Haha, Vin reads Mazda, Scan Reads Mazda, Clearly not a Mazda engine....

Good thing I'm good with computers too, maybe it won't be to difficult to set everything up and get it working once I buy it...
I was interested int he Evap, EGR and Cat codes being deleted. I liked the after run feature for the coolant fan too if the temp is over 185, but it's not like I really NEED that one haha

I mean it is a race car, I can always get it exempt.

Recently I've been playing with the idea of using the Torque app and a Tablet as a gauge cluster haha.

    Welp, This is looking promising.

I bet I can even program the ECU to work for my buddy once he goes boosted with his engine... much research to be done!
    Thanks for the info!

Got tiny tuner and loaded a stock l67 bin file. Lots of stuff going on ha. Guess I better start reading through those tuning guides and see where I need to start. I'm interested in pulling what is already on the ecu and seeing if it's been tuned before. And checking that VIN to see what it came from.... assuming the ecu was original to this engine.

Each time I see a thread like this.. I laugh a little. It's like I help cause people to torture themselves..lol

FWIW, download the entire folder and everything in it. Just in case I need the space for Audi stuff down the road. Doubtful..but who knows. Scotty goes in ever 10 min to grab only what he needs. One day.... I might just mess with him. lol
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

So, is this DHP Tuning setup really only for a few GMs? Is there a list a compatible vehicles? Would I need different hardware to get things to work then?

Dang, looks like I can't get into my friend's Isuzu ECU then.
We're trying to find management options for his Isuzu swap while going boosted.

if you want to be able to cover more cars, makes and models, hp tuners is what you want. cost more but has good support still. covers many cars too.

you'll have to see if they support that car. but theres a good chance they do.

unless you drop a l67 in it, (its been done) and use a gtp pcm to run it. then you can use DHP.

    HPT doesnt do Isuzu.

But it can do swapped stuff no problem because you are using a harness and computer that HPT could support like a 3800 swap or LS swap.

Thanks, I was just exploring options. I'm not too worried but my buddy wants to run boost from the start, he unfortunately is looking at an AEM EMS then, Expensive but he's familiar with it.

I personally plan to run the 3800's ecu for a while, then assuming everything goes well over time I'll eventually switch over to megasquirt and probably run with that.

The only real reason for keeping the factory ECU is I can keep the car emissions compliant, for the most part...

with dhp you can change the vin # in the w body pcm. inspection should not be able to tell a thing. ( if its done right)

I don't think they even check vins (but I would switch it in the ECU just for the hell of it)
I'm pretty sure for emissions here they just look at readiness monitors and make sure the ECU says all is good.
I figure since I can delete the second o2, evap and egr codes I shouldn't have an issue.
But if I do I can just change it back lol

So I recently acquired an AVT interface and now just want to familiarize myself with these programs.

So far I need to use Power Tuner to read/write to and from the ECU.
But loading the bin file into tiny tuner seems to yield more adjustable options.

Is there a way to communicate with the ECU through tiny tuner? Or is that power tuner specific?

Also the dropbox links listed earlier in this thread no longer work, anyone else have a source for learning information?

Edit: I found scotty's sticky, Reading up now.
