So long story, short of it is i have an XP cam and at idle I get the P0300 random misfire code. On my current PCM it is set to no reporting. Well soon that is going to be an issue for me, I will have to set it back to the stock setting for the code. My question is how does the engine get that code and how do I fool it, if possible. I am not a tuner just a guy that lives in a communist state.

Tune it out Is your only option. You wont have misfire detection while its disabled though.

Its tough to say. The cam changes some of the events around that the pcm is looking for in the knock sensors. Could try to change your timing advanced significantly.. you just have to make the pop noise at the time the pcm is expecting it.

what seems to be the problem here? if the po300 is tuned out it wont show up at all when scanned at inspection.

Bump the idle up to like 900, it shouldnt misfire then.

The communist state of Kalifornia has decided that on all cars 2000 and newer smog shall now only be a computer check. However they will be making sure that all the monitors have ran and been set. Deviations from the factory settings will fail you and possibly give you a fine as you knowingly tampered with "emission controls" so my xp cam no longer has to actually be clean but i need to pass with at stock tune.

aka all check engine codes as it left the factory.

i think you can still pass when you have sensors set to not report, thats all they do is not report. they still show complete/ready.

we do a obd2 scan here in NJ, and we pass with codes deleted. as well as other states.

id think as long as you pass the visual your ok. like have a egr on the engine and evap stuff, even if its not working.
