Overkill's code is proprietary. His are locked because he uses different programs to create his file, and no one program would be able to read it right.
OK so I could just tune my stock PCM though if I wanted?
That's good, what PCM Tuner would you all recommend if any?
What is the point of the credits? Every time I want to tune my PCM do I need to buy new credits?
Nope. when you buy the tuner from HPT it comes with 8 credits. It takes 2 credits to tune you're car an unlimited amount of times. The credit system is how they make there money.
Can I use the remaining credits for anything else? Is there a core charge or anything when purchasing one of your tuners?
What other purpose would I need credits for besides tuning?
well thats a hard question because whats easy for one is harder for another. they do have a lot of how toos on the hptuner forum but it really helps out if you have a person that knows it very well that can help walk you through it.
its not really hard you just have to think a bit![]()
it qwas very confusing at first, even when I read on it all, however, JoshMcMadMac gave me an invitation to learn from him and it helped a lot. After the initial meeting I've been able to slowly move off on my own now. Good luck!
So if I purchase and HP Tuner do I need to do a security relearn every time I tune?
no, you just purchase your vehicle one time and its your forever... i went ahead and purchased all 1998 Grand Prixs for 4 credits...
I see HPTuners software on the classifieds all the time on the other forums. Each credit cost ~$50. Since 8 come with the product I subtract $50 per credit they used. Either way if you plan on only doing your car and never anyone elses, then 2 credits is all you need and spending $300 on it instead of the $600 it costs will still save you substantially.
haha i just realized i misread the question.... woops... well I didn't need to do a security relearn, but also I only have the original pcm
