2wk ago, my friend ordered a PCM from ZZP for his 01 GTP, we put it in, let it idle for 5 min to catch on to things, took it out, drove it mid throttle down the road, turned onto another. this is where he went WOT. it went to 6200 instead of 6k and hit rev limiter, sounded like a huge 50mm BOV and cut out on us. we drove it some more and on highway. still did the 1st gear thing but everything else was fine until we were on our way back and it cut out at 70mph. we had to pull over and crank it repeatably until it started which oddly started with the pedal on the floor. also noticed it was dropping OD in at 40, which my stock regal doesn't until 45 or more on a hill. he gave it another day and it died on him coming home from work so he switched it out for the stocker.
He sent it back with a list of his mods and wheels/tire sizes just in case they could use them. when he got the new one we put it in on a saturday, took it way out to some straighter back roads and it didn't kick down above 40mph and it hit 6200 again, and tried to cut out. Still everything else was right. sunday we went to the P&P in cincy for axles i need for a project car. on the way to his bank he got on it in a 55 zone, it hit limiter like before and tried to cut out. a mile down the road it stalled in the middle of turning at a light. so we switched it out in the lot.
Contacted ZZP about this one needing to be return for good and that he wanted some kind of Return since both PCM's were bad. (not going to say the full name) T.T. of ZZP said they did not give any type of returns on electrical items and wanted his Stock PCM to check his factory readouts to solve it. told him his PCM couldn't be trusted while he gave up his factory PCM since its his only car and keep having it die. so now from this last reply we get that he thinks were just lying(or the cars fault) to return it.
