    Man, this thing isn't even close to "done." Still need to;

    Install the knuckle/brake setup
    Install wideband
    Finalize wiring
    Get AC working
    Install a different rear end
    Drop rear about 3"
    Install Cal-Tracs
    Tune, tune tune....

But eventually, this thing will get a "new" motor

I want to replace the 250K+ mile oil burning/leaking 350 with a basic LM7. Should be an easy swap compared to the S10.

Emissions test was a bust. Didn't even make it there. About 8 minutes in, threw a check engine light. Started breaking up real bad and was down on power. Bank 2 LTFT had climbed to +58. Got it home and hooked up the scanner. Got P0404 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Range/Performance) code. Looks like I missed that one in the tune. Crap.

My guess is, once the parameters were met to command EGR and it wasn't there, the PCM started DUMPING fuel on that side. LTFT's at idle look great. Only while cruising does it go crazy. The exhaust pipe for the left side is still nice and clean. The right side is all sooted up. So there's one advantage of having true dual exhaust.

So... Easy fix, right? Should be but, nope. Went to hook up the MPVI interface and could not connect. Nothing I did worked. Tried my laptop and tablet, and a different vehicle. Nothing. I've had this issue since day one, but was usually able to connect after a little dorking around. Not this time. Got an email into HPTuners support. Waiting to hear back. I suspect a bad USB cable, but that's just a guess. Perfect timing.

Man that bites. You really blasted right through the project without a lot of setbacks so something like this can almost be expected. Saying nothing against your work, it's just odds. Sucks about the timing though. Heck I know of a Model A with IRS that split a drive shaft yoke while coming into a building for a big show. Murphy's law.

I totally get what you're saying. I'm pleasantly surprised that that was the only issue (so far) I've run into. It's just SUPER frustrating that I have the tool to fix the problem, but it won't work. My hands are tied. I'm not good at waiting. Plus I only have 3 days on a temporary tag to get it inspected. If it's not fixed by then, I'll have to tow it there and I really don't want that hassle. I'm usually pretty good at dodging that Murphy guy with all the planning I do, but I guess he gets us all eventually.

I will say, the little time I spent driving it on the open road (before it went south) was fantastic! The 1-2 shift is like a kick in the pants, and the exhaust sounds amazing when you open the taps.

The USB cable I got with my DHP was all ugly, rusted and beat up, but worked just fine outside of being only 10" long. I got tired of not being able to set the laptop anywhere but either on top of the shifter or on the floor, so I replaced it with a shiny 6 ft long one from Amazon. Lol

But now I have two that work, just in case.

It's always good to have spare cables for EVERYTHING. If there's anything my job has taught me, cables/wires are always the first and most common things to fail. Whether it's from cold, heat, bumps, drops, hits, use and abuse, etc... Cables are always the first things I will check when troubleshooting.

    I passed emissions!!

Not being satisfied with waiting around for HPT support, I decided to try something different. Got out the old offboard interface (so glad I made one) and hooked it up to the desktop. Everything worked great. Burned a tune to delete the EGR code. Turns out the issue with the laptop was the Dell usb drivers. Dumb computer... Good enough to run some of the most powerful 3d design programs, but can't load the right driver for a usb port. Anyhow, put the PCM back in the truck and took it for a test drive. Success! No egr code, and the trims stayed in check. So I was off to the testing station. Passed!

Discovered a trans fluid leak at the radiator cooler, but otherwise problem free. Pretty good considering I was hooting on it on the way home.

Bad Ass. Giant congratulations. You have created what in my book qualifies as just about the perfect modern GM vehicle for use in today's world. Blends right in but with fun on tap. Not unlike a W-body. Enjoy!

I really need to do something to share. I think it sounds great, but it might just be me.

I guess I didn't realize how expensive they were. An actual GoPro is like, CalTrac money! I have to do more research to see if I can get away with one of those sub $100 GoPro knock offs.

Thanks Bill. This thing isn't even close to done though... However, I do have some breathing room now. Not even certain what the next project will be yet. Either way, I need to let my wallet heal from this one for a while!
