So, after four-plus years of dreaming of going faster, the last a year and a half of wanting to be supercharged, Matt's car, the Christmas car, is finally top swapped. It got it's name because it's a red car, but with a green front bumper and hood. We went back and forth on it so many times - whether we going to motor swap, top swap, or do anything at all - but finally took the plunge this past week.
We assembled the parts over the course of the past two months. Some I bought off Craigslist, some were bought new, some were pulled from a junkyard. It's got L67 heads and LIM but is running the ZZP 1" offset pulley, so we didn't have to pull the harmonic balancer. And the A/C was broken anyway so we bypassed that, also obviating the need for an L67 ignition coil bracket.
It has a pulley the size of the Liberty Bell, but it's got 20* of timing and pulls comparably to or even slightly better than a stock L67. High compression bottom end FTW.
A big shout out to Clay (CapnBreakAlot), Keith, and Dan (dsmuts) for one hell of a job done. Matt did a big ole burnout in Tim's Horton's parking lot to celebrate.
It's fun because we kept Russdinoguy completely in the dark all week as to what was going on. He was convinced Clay was putting an intercooler, ported heads, or rockers on his Buick.
I'll leave Matt to tell the full story, but here's a couple pictures:
Old N/A heads coming off
Working late Thursday night to put the L67 heads on
A job well done
Or as I kept saying: being blown is better.![]()
