I just have people driving like maniacs, sometimes. This weekend it's alcohol fueled so it's happening a lot more. Today as the sun was setting some kid in a saturn floors it to 55 on my 25 mph subdivision, cars parked on both sides of the street. And just before I read your post I hear some car doing a burnout and going to at least 45 mph on the side street perpendicular to mine (Judging that he got to the rev limiter in 1st)

Her road is a 25 mph road and people blast down it like 50 mph she had two drunk drivers flip their car basically in her driveway and die. Like idk what it takes to get it through people's heads. But in my neighborhood I get the cops called on my for my truck that was side piped saying I was driving like a maniac even tho I was doing the speed limit

Ace I believe you have discovered the origin of the myth about stickers adding horsepower. Any modified vehicle appears to travel about 20% faster if you're standing on your property. Stripes, tips, tint, boom, you name it. Pine tree on the rearview might even be enough. Just having the windows down gets you on the watch list. Minivans and SUVs are exempt even when covered with soccer ballet star names, as are wrapped rolling billboards, police, and semis. These vehicles recieve a 20% reduction in percieved speed. Grand Prix drivers are subject to a special amendment of this law. I have tested this mythical theory repeatedly over many years and it holds true today. In a 25 MPH zone, 55 MPH in a Prius equals 22 in a purple GP. As a homeowner also of many years I have observed the conundrum from the opposite end. My solution is to live on a dead end street which I don't park in and on which I do not touch accelerators.

Well you have to live in a neighborhood that has people like that, my neighbors aren't like that. If they do, I have a dash cam on all the time. A neighbor down the street from me in their late 30's always peels out in their late 90's suburban around the corner. And the neighbors directly across in their mid 30's rents cars with hemi's and floors it down the street usually not above 35 though but still.

Count your blessings, man. Smart parents. My neighborhood can be a playground. Not unusual for twenty children to move out of my path so I can get to my house. If a kid on a bicycle sees me coming, they MUST cross in front of me before I pass. If a kid is holding a ball, it MUST be thrown into the street and retrieved before I pass. But thats only with the black car. When its the purple one, they part their ball game but only allow about a foot on each side for me to pass and often scream nice things at me about the car. Boy but if a dumb parent sees my car that close to their kid, I'm a speed demon and a public enemy with no right to drive on their kid's playground (my street). I'm really being more sarcastic than ranty, it takes time for some folks to digest my idea of humor though.
Has anyone else noticed the "pack mentality" in traffic? I can be going five or ten over the limit in any clear highway lane, and a vehicle approaches from behind going 20 over but won't pass, only tailgate. So I move over. Now they even their front bumper up with my rear wheel and thats where they stay. Miles and miles at a time, they use my vehicle as their speedometer. If I add 40 MPH, there they are. If I coast, there they are. If I hold it to the floor, double the speed limit is often required to shake them. If I poke the brake, so do they. Often I have to just pull over to break away from the clusters. Doesn't matter if you do a full drag launch from a red light, the Sienna next to you at the light will hold it to the floor until they pass you regardless of speed limit, then the herd follows and creates a difficult situation in which to maintain safe distances.

I hear what you mean about people on the highway or backroads. I can't stand it I either floor it to pull away or coast down to like 25 (if on backroads) and they usually pass. Or 55 on the highway. That doesn't usually work they will stay with you or just ride you more.

people just drive like assholes around here, im included lol
i really have zero tolerance for people who can look both ways and judge a left turn in a timely fashion. if need be pull out when clear and block oncoming traffic. ( can you tell i do this bastard left turn daily?)
ive had to pull next to more then one asshole like this and make the left before them. like really dude? take a taxi.

The dog reference is perfect. Its the same people every day, not like you'll never run across that driver again. I used to be so courteous in traffic but have learned that with the drive I make now, I have to "choke way up" (follow MUCH closer) on the driver ahead when other cars are around. Because if you follow at 19 feet, seven 18 foot cars will pull right into your "safe following distance". Makes me feel like a Blue Angel.
That reminds me of an ancient observation. Driver's testing now states that two car lengths is the accepted guideline for safe following distance. It used to say one second for each ten MPH, then down to one car length for each ten miles per hour. I know we've gone from drum to disc to ABS but human reflex has recieved no upgrades and has been given additional tasks.

In drivers ed you had to leave a 3 second distance between you and the car ahead. Screw that noise, when I'm in traffic and the right lane closes in 100ft and you have the last minute idiots to push in, I block the other lane then they get all angry. Its really fun watching semis do it and push cars behind them or into the orange barrels.

Yeah see now its just car lengths in DE, with no reference to speed. Dumb. I can see those "Ooh, I see a spot where I can squeeze in because I'd rather weave in and out like fast and furious then just whip into the lane I need right when I need it and signal briefly after I've crossed the line!" types coming a half mile away and don't give them any reason to think they can squeeze in front of me. Its serious business, that person is trying to make you responsible for thier carelessness and they have the potential to do so in those cases.
