you do know there is time machine on mac right? I used that all the time also too get onyX it will help with your system seek time. my hd was freaking out last year when i would open a new finder window it would take 10 mins to load so i ran onyX and it cleared the problem it never came back so far (finger crossed) also i built this mac so i may be able to help you more indepth.
EDIT: I get kernal panics all the time its no big deal you just restart it and its fine lol. my last one was 4 days ago i get them randomly. at the very bottom on the panic it gives you what caused it and how many milliseconds it took to time out and what the hell it was.
i just fixed a crack just like that. mine was on the bottom tho. i ran out of bumper epoxy so i failed to re coat and sand what looks like a cut in the middle, there. if i had enough filler the whole thing would have looked like the left side of the crack. they seel kits with a mesh to put on the back side to make it strong again. i just layered the filler over the crack on the back.

Im not too worried. Put some epoxy on it to see what that does. I'm gonna plasti dip it anyway. If that fails duct tape is going back on.

I might do that, I'm either going to repaint/repair my bumper or replace it.

keep in mind you can fix it and paint it for less then 50 bucks. ive done both bumpers now. im the new rattle can king lol you would be hard pressed to find one used in the right color for 50 bucks. and in good shape.
