Ok heres the deal. My wife brought home a kitten the other day and its got some problems. It seems pretty slow mentally and doesnt get around real well. Well the main problem we are having is he cant go to the bathroom. His stomach is hard and seems to hurt if ya touch it. when it tries to go in the litter box it just squeals and cant go. Lord knows it tries. we have tried everything and nothing seems to help. Now every once in a while when he tries theres blood on its but. This cat was born on Easter and is barely 2 pounds if its lucky. I think its a dwarf LOL which I think would be cool. Im not a big cat lover be I hate to see any animal suffer. Any vets out there or anyone have any input that would help would be great. me and my wife are not able to work right now and cannot afford a vet bill but we are willing to do what ever we can to help this critter out! Thanks in advance!!!!

Sounds like it's got an infection. Maybe a UTI. It probably needs some type of medication. Have you thought of taking it to a no-kill shelter?

If it's that old, it should definitely be pooping on it's own by now... relatively newborn kittens actually wont poop on their own... their mother will lick their undersides to stimulate them, and raising an orphan you would rub it's bottom and stomach with a warm, moist cloth.

However, being this cat should be beyond this phase, it sounds like he has some pretty severe constipation... otherwise it might be some other internal injury. If he's bleeding internally, the blood could create pressure inside her body cavity and make it feel hard. Internal injuries can also lead to lameness, slow movement, and slow reactions due to lethargy from pain. Is he peeing? Eating?

I've heard it done that if you take warm, moist q-tip and (this is gunna sound weird) just gently uhh... "massage" uhh... under her tail/around the butthole... that sometimes stimulates a reaction, helps loosen things up. I read a story about a monk a few years ago that came upon a monkey that couldnt poop, the story was that he used his tongue to massage it the way I described until the monkey was able to pass the blockage... so that's worth a shot. If things dont improve quickly.. like Monday quickly... please please take her to an emergency vet, or atleast call and describe what's happening and how long it's been.

If she gets worse in any way... ie unresponsive, further loss of coordination, more bleeding... call an emergency vet and take her immediately. If he is bleeding internally it can start to put pressure on his lungs so they cant expand and he'll literally suffocate to death. Stuff with animals can be life threatening and you dont even realize it, because they cant tell you what's hurting or what kind of problems they're experiencing.

She is eating but not drinking to much. She does pee a little. Every once in a while she will play but not often. I really do think she is mentally challenged. As for the massage therapy you are talking about, Well thats a job for the wife! with a Q-tip I hope. LOL we have tried stool softeners and the wife just tried to get some pro biotics into her but she didnt take kindly to that. Thanks alot for the info it was quite educational in a weird way.LOL But it all makes sense to me. Thanks again

your kitty needs to see a vet asap. end of story. most vets will set up payment plans if your tight on cash.

its either sick (viral) or has an intestinal blockage would be my "guess".

Took her to the vet today and they told me she had round worms. They gave a bunch of meds to us and other than that they gave har a clean bill of health. 5 months old and she is 1.5 lbs. thats crazy!
