quick update, they took him to rehab instead of him coming back, he had breathing issues but not due to his stroke he had water build-up from his heart not functioning good, so he is on the right meds to get the fluid away from his heart and lungs and should hopefully be back soon, but good news is the stroke symptoms are 100% gone

its not pneumonia, he has one chamber in his heart pumping everything else is shot, and by what they(nurses,dr's) told me the heart is suppose to get rid of this water and it does not now so it builds water around his heart and lungs, they have pills for that, he has been taking them for years now but has gotten worse since the stroke, so they upped his meds..
he has had 2 bad heart attacks so only the one chamber left pumping for the last 10 years,he has had a triple bypass, and now this mild stroke... hopefully he still has a long time to live but I worry for him, but I know when its his time its his time....
just not for another 20 years or so I keep telling myself lol

Was hoping this thread could stay dead...dad started having major breathing problems in the last 48 hours so my brother brought him to the emerg as i went to work, he txted me a few hours later saying that he had fluid in his lungs and they where getting it all out but it all seemed ok.
then on my way back from my last stop( im a commercial/truck driver) he txted me at 7am saying he was on his way to pick up dad from the hospital when the hospital called saying he went into respiratory arrest and they had to shock him back to life........... I am now in the waiting room now waiting to hear more..

thanks blueguy and oxfire for the likes, but you liked a post from november 2012 lol
I went to go see him at 10 am, but they had him heavily sedated to keep him asleep cause he would wake up and his heart would be racing cause he doesnt know whats going on last he remembers he was just lying in a bed not with all these tubes down his throat... and they wanted him to get some sleep since he hasnt slept for 2-3 days.
they say his heart is pretty weak, but he has had only 1 chamber pumping in his heart for 10 years now so idk if its gotten worse or still the same as its always been, so nothing more I could do I went home and got some sleep since I worked all night.
just woke up and gave them a call, they hope to have the breathing tube out tonight latest tomorrow morning, and cardiologists are coming in to see if they can improve his heart any way, and he is awake and aware whats going on.. Im guessing he is happy it isnt another heart attack or stroke but still
Thanks for the support guys, I will keep you all updated.

Good luck to you and your dad. My own brother is actually in the hospital right now. He was admitted yesterday with an irregular heartbeat. I guess they did some kind of surgery today to "shock it" back to normal. They want to keep him one more night for observation. He is only 28, and I guess he is being stubborn and was ready to walk out of the hospital tonight, because he just wants to go home.

stubborn family members, rather not go to the hospital then live... good luck to him
On another note, called for a update, they took breathing tube out and he is up and around, doing some scans and test today to see if the can do anything for his weak heart.

    thanks everyone
after 11 days he is finally out of the hospital, had a surgery to" install" a defibulator lol, basically since his top half of his heart does not beat in sync with his bottom heart this defibulator shocks w/e part of his heart needs it to make it start beeating in sync again, so hopefully all is well for years to come.
thanks again everyone for your encouragement and best wishes

so its been almost 3 years, he has been in and out of the hospital for heart issues, and each time he got a little weaker... on the 15th he passed away, he had enough I guess and when he got rushed to the hospital he signed the D.N.R(do not resuscitate) he had a small heart attack and stopped breathing..
had the funeral on monday, went and moved out all his stuff this weekend, sold his kubota lawn mower and still got to sell his ford ranger and ford f350. otherwise I am keeping his tools and the 1983 bigred 3 wheeler, been in the family since I was 5 years old.
It really sucks... but I am glad his is done suffering, everytime he got better he quickly went down hill it was a roller coaster. I wish he could of watched my kids grow up, atleast he got to hold my 2 week old boy a week before he past away..

You can take solace that he is no longer suffering. He may not have been able to see your kids grow up, but you can keep his memory alive with telling your kids about him.

My Dad passed away unexpectedly back in 2009 from a heart attack. My Dad was the single most influential person in my life, so I understand how hard it is to deal with. I would not wish that on anyone, even people who I hate. Psychologists say that children who have knowledge that their parents are dying are better equipped to deal with their passing, I don't really know if it's true, I'm sure it is still hard and painful. The first year was the hardest after his death, but I still shed a tear or two on occasion.
