Unfortunately, everywhere is getting like this. The rapper Tyga got shot at here at a venue I frequent. People die in gun related violence every day. There are a lot of things leading up to me getting my firearm purchase permit, and wanting to take a CCW course.

That being said... I am purchasing a Glock G22 this weekend. Its what most law enforcement agencies issue, it is actually a former Nebraska State Patrolmans gun. Nice 40 cal, they make good upgrades for them including guide rod lasers, which would help with accuracy in a bind.

I would reccomend pretty much any Glock. My dad has a G17 that was the first pistol I shot with. They are known to be durable and ready when you need them.

Theres an old guy on youtube, I forget his name, but he does a 20 minute review of the G22.

One customer, who had just pulled up, even helped the owner's shoot at the three men.
    This guy deserves a medal.

If you're looking for something compact after you get settled in with the Glock I would suggest the hammerless 327 Taurus. This gun is cheap, small and has the reliability of a revolver. Perfect for self defense.

I work in a really bad area and sometimes carry my girlfriend's 38 special when working alone at night. I pitty the fool that f***s with me.

The only downfall with that is it only holds 6 rounds. In the situation in the article, there were 3 suspects, that's not even enough to cover the mozambique drill for 3. I would rather have a pistol for CC because of mag capacity as well as ease and speed of changing preloaded mags vs reloading a revolver.

For a subcompact, I would suggest a Springfield XD. Small and good to go in a bind with durability similar to a glock.

For home protection, if that's something you're also interested in, I like the Mossberg 500 line of shotguns. They are inexpensive and the JIC 2 with an aftermarket folding shoulder stock is very portable, while being able to operate like a standard shotgun.

Had a .380 I was using for home defense that I picked up for $280 from academy. Subscribing as I wouldn't mind purchasing another handgun.

That's a glock 21 with a "29-40" round magazine. Not the greatest mag for concealed carry, but it would make a good nightstand magazine or loaded +1 under the counter in a store to stop an intruder (Local laws permitting).

I personally own a Glock 19 and love it, but my next purchase will be this:

    Gander Mountain® > Sig Sauer P229 SAS Generation 2 Handgun - Firearms > Handguns > Semi-Auto Pistols :

It shoots like a dream. A tad on the heavy side but it helps with recoil. A friend of mine picked one up and let me shoot through a couple clips. It's FANTASTIC. A tad on the pricey side, but overall a very nice weapon.

Great piece, super intimidating, kinda big to lug around, stupid expensive, though.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

Looks awesome, but not looking to go broke with it. In the future, when I get more into guns, I'll go and splurge on a nice one. Right now looking for an affordable one.

    Decided on a .40.

My brother in law has a .380.... That gun is WAY too small for a grown man. Here in MI cops stopped carrying 9mm because they lacked knock down power. So if you get robbed by some one strung out on crack a 9mm won't do you much good. I instead would buy a .40 cal. Much more sound choice. I have shot a few 40's and love them very much. Glock makes a good gun. Smith and Wesson makes a good one. Sig sauer is another good one.
I say go big or go home. My all time personal fav. Is the H&K USP .40.
Awesome gun... Very large sticker price.

1911's are very nice guns as long as they are not cheap knock offs. Cheap rip offs will have a small beavers tail on it and will result in lots of hammer bite.... Which sucks.

I can say from my experiences in Iraq I carried an M9 which is a Springfield 9MM, along with my M4, but me and many other soldiers in my platoon had problems with the 9MM not stoping a threat, they would keep running after being shot numerous times. I just recently started to carry a Springfield XD 40 subcompact as my CCW, a lot better then my Taurus .40 I did carry, but that's what I would recommend

id have to say you cant argue with real world experience.

lets face it, most who carry will never (lets hope) have to draw their weapon. and most have never had a reason shoot another person on the attack. stopping power is what its all about.

thanks for securing all of our freedoms as well.
