Suggestions for a good gun to buy.

Some sh*t happened and I decided I'm going to get my CCW and buy a pistol. I don't know much about guns besides your standard 9mm<.40mm<.45mm.

I'm looking to spend no more then about $500 for a gun.. preferably around $400 would be great. This would mostly be used for self defense so I want something pretty accurate and won't break my wrist every time I fire it. What do you guys think I should get and why?

I've fired my dad's Ruger SR9 at the range and I liked the accuracy of it, but I'm thinking I want a .40. Any suggestions are welcome.

My uncle got robbed for the second time this week at his store by the same people. Gun to head. Kind of scary knowing one of your family members can die like that. There's more to the story, but that's the gist of it.

I'll vouch for a Glock. Simple, reliable, and not too spendy. I don't own one, but my dad and uncle do. Shot both of them multiple times and I will have one, next time I get around to buying a handgun. In 10mm for me, of course. I recommend you pick one of your 3 calibers listed.

my brother just picked up a 357, as big as it looks, it fits so perfect in my hand, i have big hands, the trigger could be a inch further for my hand.

9mm's cheaper than a .45 to hit the range with, which I suggest doing a bit of. .45 will do better against linebackers on PCP. If you're looking to carry, weight and size might be a concern. If you want less maintenance/cleaning, choose a revolver. My suggestion would be to read up on the most popular pistols that fit what you're looking for, check youtube reviews, maybe hit Gander Mountain and try some, and then go pick one up from a used gun show for like 30-60% off.

Well I don't think I'll be getting .45, not ready for that. I'm comfortable with a 9mm and I'll be shooting my cousins .40 this week to see how it feels. So lets say either a 9mil or a .40

Atleast go get a purchase permit and if your state allows open carry than your good there. Cpl will follow but you can have it for defence purpose until that.

Personally, I'm a miserable shot with a pistol and have always subscribed to the philosophy that a hole is a hole. .22's fit more bullets (for me to miss with), cheaper than 9mm, kick less, still make holes. Maybe find something in .22 longrifle.
