Im 18 years old, had my permit since i was 16. Didnt get my license till a week after i turned 18(last year.)
I pay 130 a month liability, for my 2000 GTP 4 dr. My driving record is clean. Im with Esurance and thats the
cheapest i get, the second cheapest i got was....230? or 195? But AAA was like 200-300 a month liability, etc etc.
I live in LA, and i know location also depends on it. I state i drive less than 7,000 miles a year and try to get the
cheapest insurance with discounts and thats what i got. When will my insurance payments start dropping? I will be buying
another car by the end of next year, either a 05 car or 08 car. And i did quotes and saw 450 a month cheapest premium.
Are their cheaper companies or way to get cheaper insurance? I was always told to have a relative that doesnt live with you to
get it insured in their name and just drive it and pay them monthly.

I paid more than that when I was 16 for my 95 blazer. Enjoy the raping happens to us all. Some people have there parents as primary drivers and them as secondary and that helps. Now that Im 27 I pay that for one brand new car and my GS and renters insurance.

Well the reason why im under my own name is because, my mom didnt pay the bill so they cancelled our insurance that we originally had for over a decade, and we had free towing all the way from tennesse to here, but now the price is high now since we resigned and etc etc. So if they added me, the premium would be alot higher significantly higher, so thats why im on my own insurance under my own name. how long would it take for my rate to decrease? in a year? or more? im trying to get a newer gtp or even better, another car with more potential but still keep my pony (:

21 it can go down some based on a clean record, marriage is a fair discount but I advise against that unless love or lust is involved and which is better has been debated forever. The big discounts come at 25 though and home ownership. Renters insurance and multicar discounts can help lower your overall rates. All of this is based on clean driving record and LA is a bad place for driving without getting hit so keep your eyes open and fingers crossed. Good luck finding a better rate but 130 in LA is not too awful bad I don't think.

90/m for 3 vehicles... 2002 kia(200 ded), 94 s-10 blazer(liability), and a 2000 prix GT(200 ded)... mine dropped a boat load after i turned 26... geico so far has been cheapest.. wait a while it will get cheaper with age, and marriage in my case.

130/m seams like alot, i'm a 19yr old guy with full coverage on my 04 gtp and i pay $75ish a month, although being under my parents insurance im sure has the biggest affect

Having the car's title under ur parents name is what u should do because as a secondary driver it would be cheaper. I have state farm. When I turned 21 I got a discount. I live with my girlfriend but they have my parents address on file so I get the "u live with someone who has insurance with us discount". 02 gtp 90 a month for full coverage. At ur age expect to pay 100 to 150 even with liability unless u get a small local insurance place like I did. When I was 16.

I really like state farm they're awesome. Check em out. Like I said if u have the title under ur parents name that's the key. At ur age who cares?

Some states are worse.... Here in MI our insurance is "no fault". So it is retarded high... When I was 18 I had a 96 GP SE 4-door and was paying 285 a month with a $500 ded.

I had state farm for 20 years, great service. Pretty sure they are the absolute most expensive you can get. I combined my house and cars with another company and it was cheaper than I use to pay state farm for just 2 cars.

State Farm is far from the most expensive. I pay a whopping $80 a month for full coverage with a $250 deductible on my 07.

Again, insurance has WAY too many factors. It all depends on where you live, how much you drive, how old you are, how clean your driving record is, etc etc etc.

Credit score is typically bigger than both of those if you are not living in some crazy ghetto place.

Its not particularly the nofault part of it that makes our insurance system so crap.. Its more to do with the MCCA fees and the unlimited PIP coverage that is required to be on all insurance policies. A typical MCCA and unlimited pip coverage fee increases the average personal auto account by 15-18% right on top of the premium.

Michigan is the only state that has this aggressive of a state ran reinsurance.... and it is currently in our michigan government to be recalled.

I can't see credit score having much, if any effect. My mom pays $82 a month full coverage on her 07 Caliber, and her credit is so bad that they wont even assign a number to it.

I refuse to allow my insurance broker to even have my ss# the major insurance companies try to get a ss# since it makes it easier for them and it shows financial accountability but a credit score is a sham. It is an I love debt score and a I pay on time so that I may borrow more money score so my I love debt score can get bigger. I used to want a score over 750 so bad I'd stress over it, now I want a zero or as close to it as I can get but that is a few years away at this point. Sorry to go off topic. Credit scores bug me. pretty sure credit score only plays a role for a discount. Because it just shows if u pay on time or..whatever they take into account. I have friends that like about 60 miles from me, but! they pay 60 bucks a month and they have 3 tickets and etc, i cant believe that though.

Driving record, how long you have been driving, age and credit score all play into insurance rates. I asked a friend of mine who is an insurance agent for Geico about this. I have full coverage insurance, plus towing and rental coverage for $294 every six months. When I turned 25 my insurance bill was cut in half. Since you drive a GTP (sports car) and live in high density population area that is going to have an impact as well...more chances for wrecks etc. Moving out to the county dropped my insurance by $30 per month. Oh and I am with USAA.

Also teenage boys tend to get hit really hard with insurance rates...sorry.

im paying 114 a month for liability, and im 40, with a clean lic. so you can stop complaining about 130 at 18 years old. your getting a good price.

rates have everything to do with where you live and your age, at 24 or 25 your rate should drop if you have no points or accidents.

LA is a crazy place with lots of cars on the road, one reason your rate is higher, and same goes for me in NJ.

take a mid west state and live in farm land, where theres no traffic or over population, and your rates will drop.

full coverage rates go up if you live by a major highway too, i paid a extra 1000 a year for my truck, because i live 3 blocks from rt 80, and rt 17 and rt 46 aint much further away. told me its just to easy for it to get stolen and hit a hi way and then never found. high risk area.
