My buddy is very anal about ride comfort as well. Thats one of the reasons he bought the 636 because it was comfortable. He never had problems on 10 hour bike rides.

This is something I've considered. The motor is coming out in the next year or so if I don't buy a bike or DD or in the next few years if I do (depending on how many miles get put on the car). I'm doing the timing belt at 90K instead of the recommended 105K, and pulling the motor to thoroughly clean it, the engine bay, and do some work. Adding these parts then would be easy. I don't know if I want to wait though.

I rode a 636 at work, I wasn't comfortable on it compared to a SV. It was better than my R6, though.

its funny because everyone that said mod the STI is a child with no sense of what it actually means to have a nice daily driver.

like i said, leave the STI alone. even to push the power levels you want you'll be into it at least as deep as what a bike would cost and it will most definitely leave you wanting more. do not mod the STI until your bank roll can sustain it. currently you're having to choose, which means your money situation isn't right.

The money isn't the problem. I'm setting a budget so I don't get carried away, it just so happens that I could buy a bike within my budget and now I have to prioritize what's more important.

I'm not brushing off what you're saying, either. I'm taking everything into consideration and the arguments against what I'm thinking are exactly what I'm looking for, because I want to think this all through.

I think no matter what you do, you are going to wish you did the other. Just how these things work. You mod the STI, there will be some really nice day where you will kick yourself in the ass for not getting the bike. You get the bike there will be some souped up rice rocket that wants to race and you will wish you modded the car.

id do the bike man. or buy a dd. i say if you wanna go balls out on the sti, you should have something that can still get you to work. YEAR ROUND. if you live in FL or somewhere that the bike could be a reliable all year transport, id say go for it. buuut of the two options given i still say bike. youll appreciate the sti more if it a slow going piece by piece project. plus youll learn to drive it better at each stage. to me putting the money into it all at once would be like a premature ejaculation.... "BOOM.. now what?".

I've been looking for cheap cars too. I wouldn't mind having another GP honestly. I should look into what liability/medical insurance on something like a 1999 GT would cost.

That's the thing, too. Bikes and cars are apples to Oranges.

I have the money to do one or the other. Either one will end up costing more than I want it to, and I understand that. I just need to decide which one I want more.

Only you can make that choice bro. I too live in Ohio and would rather have the car than the bike, but I'm not a bike kind of guy.

Just buy a cheap bike and keep saving for the sti build. I have a super cheap bike and it's nice that i don't have any money wrapped up in it because i really don't ride it very often.

look into a 97-99 GTP insurance would be the same as they where GTs with an option package.
