So the GTP has been gone for awhile now...and yes I do miss it.

The LT1 Wagon is fun, but with over $1000monies in body damage, and it getting 15mpg..it's more of a workhorse/truck than anything.

The Eclipse GS is super fun, and gets 40mpg, but it's going off with the GF in about a month or 2...also, has no damn power...poor little 420a.

    So I've been browsing around, looking for something that is;
    A-manual transmission
    B-Boosted, or a very strong N/A
    C-Good gas mileage
    D-Under $5000
    E-Able to mod

So, after looking around...I've found a few choices, but would like your imput.

-Nissan 240sx either s13-s14 with the SR20det swapped
    -Mitsubishi GS-T or GSX, 97'-99' without crank-walk
-Saab 9-5 Turbo (gotta love the wagon)

So what do you guys think??

Also, no mustangs, LT1's or gas-hogs...I already have one of those.

Yeah, actually, everything I've found is around the 2-4k mark..giving around 1k worth of play money.

That's the biggest lean in on the 240...lots of aftermarket, lots of parts

These are my exact specifications for what I'm looking for, only it has to be American, preferably GM. Rear wheel is a plus

Hey open opinion man I hate hondas just as much as any other person trust me it broke my heart to say that to you haha. But seriously if you want a strong n/a v6 try out the probe gt/ mazda mx6 there are 2 motor options KLDE which is US spec and the KLZE which is J-spec from Japan KLDE-164 BHP/ KLZE-200BHP mods are so what rare but when you find them they are quality. although if you want to boost it the compression is like 9:7 or something higher so low boost with supporting mods would be key. but no hondas haha

Well not everyone can drive a scooby, Mr. Scientist.

And dont hate on the Saab cause of Drunkie, my dad used to have one, and it was a fun car.

I dont mind Hondas, but it's hard to find one that's not Riced, 200k+miles, or beat to ****..

Main reason im going for small/light cars with little motors is gas-mileage, and it's something different.
Plans are to get the wagon in the shop, then build a 383 with spray to be the fun/project car.

Thought about it...But premium is spensive, and gas-mileage is so-so. Granted I did get 35+ on the interstate, but normal driving was like 19ish.

Plus, they get expensive quickly, as Im sure a few people can attest to.

But if I do find a nice one, that meets my criteria, then I will jump on it.

FYI, you talk about the GST/GSX option and crankwalk. Crankwalk is more of an overblown phenomena than a regular occurrence on 2g's. Dont walk away from a clean 95 if you find one for a good price.

If you are wanting good gas mileage though don't even consider them an option. The one I had (granted it was modded to hell) averaged about 17 mpg. And if you are bi*ching about the cost of premium then that takes them out of the equation anyway.

My opinion, try to find an early LS1 T/A or Camaro. They can easily get upper 20's in mpg if you dont beat the sh*t out of it.

I know most people start going crazy about crank-walk, but the last 3 I've shown any interest in, have all admitted to selling due to crank-walk.

Main reason I dont care for the 2Ga is, they are fugly from the front. (I literally just got done doing a 2Gb conversion, and it looks amazing)

And was your's a GSX, or GS-T?? Just curious, because a really close friends GS-T is getting about 25 as his DD, with minimal mods.

    I'd love an LS1, I borrow a Z28 LS1 on occasion, but damn, it's bone stock and getting 18mpg.

Mine was a AWD TSI. It had 550's, 16g, upgraded SMIC, upgraded FPR, etc, etc. The gearing on the AWD is ridiculously short.

I know more than one person with modded LS1's averaging 27 mpg or more.

Well if you drive a GTP easy it will do better than 19. Granted I've never done it because the term drive easy doesnt exist to me, but Austin got 34mpg on a stock vehicle I know it can be done.
But I agree on the expensive part. But there comes a point where it stops breaking
And premium isn't much more than regular compared tank to tank. $46.50 for regular @ $3.10 a gallon. $52.50 for premium at $3.50 a gallon. That's 15 gallons. You're gonna waste $6 somewhere else anyway lol.

out of your list, the saab is your best choice.

the 240 is laughable. you wont find one in good enough condition for any reasonable price and they are not that cool. i know a lot of dudes with them.

the eclipse is meh. its also probably going to be difficult to find one worth buying.

Well, the only time I got close to 30 was highway, with the cruise set, AC off, windows up, and waxed.

I did drive the GTP lightly while I had it, save for a few WOT bursts on empty highways.

Actually, got a really nice 240, s13 with the Sr20 swap, all stock components for $3000 in South FL.

And a 99 GST bone stock for $3300 in Charlotte (bout an hour from where Im visiting in NC)

They are out there, but for ever 1 good one, theres 100 ****ty ones.

Well, out of all those choices, I would have to say my vote would go towards the 240. And while SR swaps are the most common, and do have arguably the largest aftermarket following among the 240 swaps, I would keep an eye out for RB swapped 240's also. Just be carefull that you're not buying somebody else's problems with a swapped car.

And for what it's worth, I've seen some very nice turbo builds on the stock KA's that produce very nice numbers.

It appears you've already ruled out my main suggestions...so I'm not going to be much help anyway. Remember this?

    1. Reliable
    2. Cheap
    3. Fast
