Thread: verizon phone upgrade

I have used both, and the Charge seems to be more for moving Apple people to Android. I say this because the app tray is horizontally scrolling unlike most other UI implementations, and ALL of the icons are the Apple-style rounded squares with an image on them -- the Charge also really likes to accentuate colors on the display. It's also made of more plastic than metal, so to me it feels cheaply made vs the Thunderbolt. The Charge also has physical buttons in contrast to the capacitive buttons of the Thunderbolt. I also noticed that the Charge lags quite a bit more in the UI than the Thunderbolt does. Your best bet is to cart your ass over to the Verizon store and play with the ones they have on display and get the one you like more. Also, if you don't live in a 4G market you might as well look into getting the Droid X2 instead because it's faster with its dual core processor.

I have a droid x and i really like it. Never a problem with it.

I had the original iphone and the iphone 4. I will never go back. Best phones ever. All my friends have droids and always wanna use my phone to look up youtube videos or whatever because its faster. Ive never had any problems with either iphone very durable and the touch screen is by far the best. If your looking for customization then just jailbreak it. Ive had my iphone 4 jailbroken since i have got it. No problems. All my friends rooted their droids but its still doesnt have as much of a fanbase as the iphone. Cydia is a great alternative. The capabilities are endless. Wireless tethering, creating a mobile hospot without charge, and many others. You have both your ipod and phone in one very nice convenience. The iphone is just a solid setup. Sorry for grammer typed this up fast in a hurry.

Droid Bionic FTW! Supposedly drop by July 6th... no official word. But first dual core VZW will offer. Can't touch Sprint's Evo3D, but it will be a good phone. Originally spec'd w/ the Nvidia Tegra2, but were having issues with battery and crap. Changed form factor and supposed to have the Texas Instrument OMAP4 now. I've been following the status of this phone since CES.

False. The Droid X2 has the Tegra 2 dual core processor. BUT to be fair it will be the first dual core 4G phone also the issues were between the Tegra 2 and the 4G radio, and not so much the battery life (previous battery life was comparable to the Thunderbolt, because DDR2 RAM uses less power -- same with the dual core processor).

I used my mom's 2yr upgrade to get my Thunderbolt about a month ago, and I have mine coming up January of next year so I'll be getting whatever nice advanced (hopefully more advanced) multi-core 4G device leads the trend then. For now, the Thunderbolt is a godsend compared to the Devour I had previously.

Must be operator error because there's no way you got that many lemons, and those devices mentioned are excellent, I have multiple friends that have them each.

True, but the Bionic would have probably been the first dual if they didn't have issues with the Tegra2. But yes, it will be the first dual core LTE phone available. Touche, I knew about the conflict with the radio/and the processor. But, they were also dealing issues with really terrible battery life... like you said comparable to the Thunderbolt.

Also, they delayed the release due to the hardware technicalities. But, on sidenote, I think that they are in the process of unlocking the bootloader, as that is what killed sales of the Droid X. Supposedly the Droid X has been recently unlocked with a custom Cyanogenmod bootloader and can flash Cyanogenmod onto the Droid X. And Motorola made a statement suggesting they will no longer lock the bootloaders.

i have an android. its awesome. but then again its my first smart phone and i hooked it up lastnight. so my opinion wont really help.

i do have to say that my time using ipads, and mac comps has been good. although i havent gotten my hands on an iphone, all thier products seem to follow a high quality trend.

I was in love with my Iphones, until recently. I have a 3gs and 4g and they are both being assholes lately. Lagging, some apps refusing to load, constantly having to refresh them. Im hoping its just the recent update that is bugged, because I love the phones. Being able to connect to your Itunes library through your phone is something that all other phone companies will continue to chase.

id go with a droid if i had the choice.

droid x has done me well

to be honest i played with a thunderbolt at best buy yesterday and i wasnt really impressed. the iphone seems like it would be much smoother and more responsive to me, as are all apple products. however, the iphone doesnt get 4G, which only the newest droids do. that might be the thing to sway me.

i will vouch for it. iPhone touch screen is very responsive. i've played with some friends' touch screen phones and they suck.

and even though it may not get 4G quite yet, the current speed it has is plenty fast enough you don't need more unless you're just the most impatient thing on earth.

Please...iPhone 4. iOS 5 update is gonna be sweet.

I have the HTC Droid Eris and when it works I like it but it is a very slow phone and it freezes a lot, HTC hasn't updated to Android 2.2 on this phone and never will so I dont have Wifi tethering or live wallpapers, I can root it and load a custom 2.2 rom on it but if I leave my coverage area I loose all data services. Oh yeah my 2g iPod Touch is more responsive than my Eris is. The Eris was basically the bastard child of HTC's Droid phones.

I've had 2 iPhones, and 2 Androids now..Android all the way.

Just upgraded from the Original Droid to the Droid X 2, and it's ****ing awesome. By far the fastest phone I've ever used, takes full 720p HD movies, and amazingly high quality pictures.

Just pop into a store and play with one for a bit.

well, now i need something i can tether to my computer at work for sure. they just blocked gpf and luckily 'pure2sin' was able to hook me up with a proxy wasnt block by my network already.
