Today was fairly nice, so I decided to start the detail on muh crapstang today. I only cleaned the inner wheels today. Removed the nasty silver coating that was caked with brake dust and road grime. Then I rubbed the wheel well liners down with tire shine, after I scrubed the piss out of them with a scotch pad and simple green. Tomorrow, if the weather is nice, I'll polish the wheels, wet sand and polish the exhaust, and clean/tire shine the gas tank cover. Hopefully, I'll have everything lined up so I can claybar, polish, wax, sometime towards the end of next week so it's at least clean in Iowa.

    Before...

After...(not yet polished, and need a lil touch up)

I didn't think to take a before pic of the wheel well lining, but it was pretty much so dirty it was grey.

Here's the chromies for the Camaro before and after. I used Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish with 0000 rated steel wool.

Simple green and a scotch pad did the platic liners. The wheels were much, much easier. Seriously, took like 10 mins a wheel. All I used was aircraft remover (10-20 bucks at the zone depending on the size), and some steel wool. Spray it on, scrub it off. simple!

    Looks good bro!

EDIT: I guess I should note that aircraft remover CAN begin to strip the chrome underneath. Most OEM wheels will be fine, however I have heard some horror stories from people who have tried this on aftermarket wheels. Most of the aftermarket companies don't have the same plating process, so try a small area to make sure you're safe if you plan to try aircarft remover, or any other type of paint stripper.

I'm just throwing it out there, because I have read that it can. I myself have never seen it eat anything, and I've used in to remove badges also. I just don't want to get blamed if someone f*cks something up.

I hate you! The inside of my chromies look even worse than yours did! I got some rust build up on my one ugly rim that i need to replace. Maybe i can make them look good again with the scotch brite and some rubbin. You think Eagle 077's will hold upto that aircraft remover?
