Yeah I did that. Haven't had a problem yet but it's so intermittent that I won't really know if it's fixed. Guess we'll see.
ip release/renew may help, but probably won't be a permanent fix. There is an underlying problem with either the laptop or the network. Most of the time when a router is involved, the sudden loss of connection to one machine while the others are fine may be fixed with a firmware upgrade to the router. You just want to be sure to follow the instructions and if you do you won't mess it up. Here is what i found on the netgear website and the latest firmware:
WNR2000 Firmware Version 1.2.3.7
Once you do this, you may have to re-secure the network easily by doing this:
Securing Your Wireless Network: WPA/WPA2 (Recommended)
It is all pretty basic stuff once you see it and do it.
When reading the fixes and stuff for that latest firmware version up above^^ this does not list off the previous fixes in the versions of firmware. I saw in version 1.1.3.9 it listed this "Fixed the issue that the wireless adapter of XBox can't associate with WNR2000" so you may have better luck using wireless/xbox after the upgrade. In the short search of finding the firmware it also said something about windows 7 not working on some versions so that may be fixed or will help. There were a lot of other fixes/issues in the earlier updated firmware versions as well that seemed related to your issue from what i was reading. When you upgrade to 1.2.3.7 it will carry all the other fixes with it, so no need to upload multiple firmware versions, just the latest one for your make/model.

Thanks, may try to do that when I get a chance. While we're on the computer topic, I'm currently shopping for an extended life battery. Running in power save mode, I have about 1:20 of life with no programs running. Can't seem to find anything other than 6 cell batteries though.
