Probably something like 20 straight days of high quality music. Haven't watched all of my movies or shows.

if its a motherboard problem that would suck mucho ass since its an expensive laptop to begin with.
It's probably not a mobo issue.

It's most likely the brick, which you can pick up a universal adapter at Office Depot for $100 or so.

    Ebay is also option.

Have you tried plugging into different outlets around your house? I had mine plugged into a outlet once, and it wasn't charging it, even though it was plugged in.

If a brick can power a laptop, it'll charge the battery (with the exception of it being the incorrect brick - which would not be the case when using the brick packaged with the laptop.

Except if the motherboard is broken. The motherboard is the middleman between brick and battery. Then again, other things could be wrong. The contacts could be broken in the battery bay (rare), the solders on the bay broken (rare)... but I've never seen a bad brick that could power its laptop without charging its battery.

That's something like saying the gasoline's only good in three of your cylinders and you can fix it by draining and replacing with new gas.

Source: 8 years laptop technician work... just saying... it'd freak me out if replacing the brick fixed it.

    That's false.

A brick can power a laptop, but not charge it. I've had several customers with the problem, and I had the same problem myself.

funny you should say that, I just read this post lol. I just got done building a computer about 2 weeks ago and ill try and list what it has lets see.......
case is a cooler master storm scout,2.8 ghz AMD 6 core processor, 700 watt cooler master power supply, ASRock HDMI mother board, so far only 4 gb 1.6 hz DDR3 ram(fast ram) will have 4 more soon, and only a 100 gb hard drive to get it running but it will have 2 TB in raid configuration before too long, a dvd burner that can supposedly burn images in the dvd and do other cool stuff, and the thing in ther front that reads like 5 different card types....im not sure about some of the stuff but I am learning alot.. I sent the mother board back because it didnt do the dual channel ram mode which is an extra feature I paid for but then I ordered a different mother board which matches the Geforce video card I got so now im waiting lol. all with nice logitech wireless keyboard and mouse and nice sound system... oh and im getting an HP 21 or 23 inch Hd monitor from my friend in 2 weeks..........I cant wait lol.

Newegg is delicous . Its where I order all of my items good support and prices. However "cheap" depends on what your looking at :-P in comparisson yes but if you want to go top end you better have some money set aside lol I always usually shoot for middle of the road performace. Doing so costs me about 100 bucks a piece when i upgrade each one.

yeah the price difference between a AMD processor and a intel is about $1000(6-core) so ya I went with the amd it was around $200 I think, it was the most expensive part. I pieced it together for a while then bought the rest in a sum and now im just waiting for the motherboard to come back so for now im using this crap computer with single core proc. and .5 ram but hey the whole computer was $25 so cant beat that.(its a dell)

I've seen 60W psu's that powered a laptop that required a 95W psu. I have never seen a laptop using the proper psu that has lost half its functionality. I will be very interested to see the outcome of this. I'm not saying I have to be right. I would love to see the cheaper fix work out.
