you could learn anything with those. from V8 swaps in the enormous engine bay, to body and frame repair, to custom spray painting, and stuff like beating the sh!t out of it with a hammer when you're mad at it. parts are easy to find too. and the best part, you could look around for a week and find one for like $800.
that sounds like a lot of work. probabl when i get my own house i could take on something like that. but for right now just simple mods will do seeing as thats wat im doing to the prix. All of these suggestions are for my future endevours so as to save up enough money to make due.

you keep throwing out the nissan gtr though... you realize those are almost 90k right? and it's not really fair to compare those to a G8 GXP. not sure on difference in performance specs but those are two completely different market niches.

and the "custom spraypainting", that was a joke btw...
99 GT - top swapped, S2X cam. - sadly, sold
    96 Firebird Formula - T-tops and exhaust leak. 14.26 @ 97.8 - sold
2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS - stock, in all of it's turbocharged awesomeness

I really don't see how you're considering a GTR, are you making 100k + a year? Because I doubt you'll be able to afford it.

If anything, might as well get a brand new ZR1 Supercharged LS9 vette, since you can afford a GTR, which is a ugly piece of ****, that shouldn't even been made.

yeah. and he didn't say it needs to be easy to work on, just wants to do something. z's are sick cars. Probably not what he's looking for though.

Please don't get a mustang. They're too overdone, too ugly, and everyone and their mom drives one. It is really a poor man's sport's car. Find an 05 or 06 gto 6 speed and start having fun. Make that car entirely unique.

Are you not asking for suggestions?

If you really want a fast 4 door, you're going to have to look into import/awd platforms really...but those cars get expensive with high horsepower. I boosted G8 would be plenty of power to get you into trouble.

My suggestions are (as Bio stated previously) something older. Such as:
-79-87 Malibu, they get amazing traction...can be had cheap. This will allow you to to focus on the go-fast part..the engine.
    -Fox body...same concept
    -any 2nd through 4th gen F-Body
    -Nova
-El Camino (79-87 is basically same as a Malibu wagon of the same years)

of course insurance will be high, but they are light as hell and with a little boost they move out like no other.
