I must agree with the others that this kind of driving is very dangerous. My reason for not doing it is that it pisses the other person off. And many times, a normally calm person will do outrageous things because of a little anger or road rage. I used to do the same thing and saw people try to pass in no passing zones, residential sections, and almost cause accidents to on coming traffic by passing unsafely. I would feel absolutely horrible if I caused a person to pass unsafely and made oncoming traffic swerve and get into an accident. And even worse if someone got hurt or worse....
Life is too short to worry about people passing you. Just let it go.....
That is not a very smart thing to do... (putting it as nice as I can)
I'm usually a passive driver, I do a lot of courtesy moves more than anything.
On the other hand, my co-worker who is in his mid 40's who took stunt driving school when he was younger still drives like it. We went out for lunch one time and I was late for a conference call so he drove like hell, He cut through A LOT of traffic and was flying. He hasn't been in an accident in decades either... He has a corvette but never drives it because he said he's afraid of what he'd do with it...
I only did the slow down and not let someone pass to one person. There is a guy I work with and when we drive to work he will get so close to your rear that you can't even see his head lights. So I got sick of this and slowed down to 35 in a 55. He pulled out to pass and I floored it ( he didn't stand a chance). After he pulled back in behind me I slowed down again and again he tried to pass but needless to say I didn't let him. He drives a little Saturn and thinks it is some kind of sports car.
