i have a GT as well and i spent $70 on a 4" intake, $190 on a 3" downpipe, and for $180 u can get a front plog, and my local shop can tune my car for about $60 so thats $500 right there and alotta difference in the performane of ur GP
i have a K&N intake too... did you just just put in the 3" downpipe and not the complete exhaust?? n also, did you get ur stock pcm tuned for 60 bucks?? how much horsies do you think ur putting out
with literally everything you can buy for a GT you would barely run 12s if you know how to drive your car. so what, maybe 250 whp max?
id be content with 250-260
like i said, EVERYTHING YOU CAN BUY (heads, cam, headers, hv3, etc).
Bio... with your best estimate how much hp will i get from a tuned pcm??
The PCM is more a shift point...trans line pressure...non horsepower mod.
What is your 1/4 mile goal and your short term and long term expenditures? These are the real questions.
If you have a legit job and you are serious about getting a fast GP then like i said i would consider a turbo or S/C setup.
If you are just passive about this then i would make your own 4" intake (~$60 max with air filter and materials). Used Plog (as low as $100 used). Downpipe & u-bend delete (as low as $100). A 180* tstat($10). A mail order tune (~$100).
Still got ~$130 left over, i am not too familiar with the top end of a GT so im not sure what would be next. Ported TB, intake manifold?...
im not too worried about track time... i just want to rip mother f*****s up on the road hahaah im not going to go down the turbo road but i want a faster then average car that i can have fun with and not get bord with. I already have a nice K&N intake which i put in myself (not tooo difficult) but i know there is power to be gained in the exhaust but the only problem is i get sorta lost when ppl start talking about downpipes, catback, and whatnot
If you are like most people on here you will get bored, that's why we add further mods always making our cars faster. That is something you will learn in time.
Unfortunately, where i live anyway, you are going to have a difficult time keeping up with allot of cars in a GT. Newer Cobalt SS's, srt-4's, accord v6's eclipses wrx's and a list of other cars will eat you even with a good amount of mods.
If you want a fast GP get a GTP, you can get one with decent mileage for 5k. Some people have gotten lucky and gotten them for as low as 3k.
Your first step is to learn a bit about these cars before you make a move or you will make the wrong one and waste $, it has happened to most of us already. As a matter of fact it even happened to you, that is if you bought the k&N. You could have made yourself a very good 4" intake for under $60.
