A friend of my brother-in-law's has a new one same color as Sabre's - we were out driving around and pulled up to a light and a guy (aka douchecanoe) in a 350Z pulls up beside and says "Nice Focus" with this cute little grin...dude had a beautiful pearl white car - but he didn't deserve it. He did, however; deserve the "O" face he had when he heard the BOV (modified) and then left him sitting at green.

    Asshats.

I say this if ya like the Subaru go get it, but don't sell the Grand Prix. The Pontiac Brand is no longer being produced and your GP will go up in value as time goes on. If you keep your GP for another five years it will be worth more than it ever was new.

the black one up there is probably the best looking hatchback i've ever seen. subi's have always been different. kinda like what scion's here for. just to look different than the typical four door sedan or whatever niche it happens to fall into instead of trying to appeal to everybody.

firebirds/trans ams maybe. especially the WS6's. gtps are pretty common and gt's are getting handed to 16-18 year old kids like myself for cheap. i love it to death but if the grand prix ever gets a ricer association it's getting a for sale sign too. that or a turbo LS4. would that even fit?

it had a discount from my parents due to graduation and my truck dying. i couldn't turn it down. i've seen a few riced out, but even more trying to be gangster or something, huge 20" or 22" rims and stupid looking detail work. some cars can pull that off. not gps. it's a nice platform to make faster and handle decent. hopefully mine will someday

Well maybe my last post strikes a little laughter in a few of you. First off Oldsmobile really didn't make **** that appealed to any enthusiast. Hurst Olds, that car wasn't in production long and wasn't all that hot anyway. Grand Prixs have had a long history and they evolved from a large full sized car in the 60's and 70's to the four door sports sedan they are today. I would'nt laugh to soon. Ya never know. One reason they stopped production of the Grand Prix in 08 is because Pontiac knew they were gonna be tossed to the curb and they wanted to push the G6 and G8 as much as possible. I realize the GP doesn't have the notoriety as Corvette, Camaro or Mustang, but it's a special car to most of us or this forum would'nt exist. Just my views anyway.

The thing is there's nothing special about the Grand Prix, I'm sorry to say. There are millions of cars on the road just like yours (w-bodies, so the Impala, Monte Carlo, Regal, etc). The only difference is the exterior sheet metal. The only thing Pontiac about it is that it has a Pontiac emblem. That's it. It even uses a Buick V6, a Chevy V6, or a Chevy V8 depending on year and trim.

This isn't like the old days of muscle cars that have appreciated as time goes on. You own a grocery getter, same as all the other w-bodies. Their worth will continue to plummet until they all end up in a crusher one day.

And the GP was cancelled over a year before there was ever any talk about Pontiac being axed. The G8 was its replacement (which also isn't a Pontiac, but is still somewhat limited and might hold their value a little longer but they will also eventually depreciate).

Well, yea I guess you're pretty much right. GM is just one big parts family everything interchangeable. Just the look of the car is all thats really different. But ya got to admit Grand Prixs aren't half bad looking cars, lol.

And let me guess, your car is special? Your car is going to be appreciated as time goes on? No, I doubt it. Even the older WRXs there around, thats about it, they all look and sound the same and I don't see people masterbating because there around.

As for the w-bodies being the same, sometimes that a good thing when you have a good line up of cars. Your Subie can't hold a candle to the looks of ANY w-body in my opinion. All station wagons are ugly to me, might as well be driving the Griswold family truckster, its just as ugly. WRX are alright, if any of them look half assed decent its the bug eyed version (i know someone who owns a fairly modded and clean one around here).

I haven't said much to you lately but i've noticed at least 5 posts from you lately **** talking our cars somehow and in some way. I used to have some respect for you but I think your becoming a troll. Since you hate w-bodies so much, why don't you go some place else other than a w-body forum to talk ****? Makes perfect sense to me, common sense goes a long ways. I don't come here and talk about how much TB SS and Mopars are better and blah blah blah or vise versa, I have respect for the people here. I think you need to do the same, just my opinion.

Now, I don't give a **** about you talking about your family truckster and what not, I don't care. Not my style of car, and Autocrossing is for people who can't run with the big dogs at the 1/4 track IMO, it does absoluely nothing for me. But when you start bad mouthing or making comments on these cars and you're no longer an owner, your stepping over your boundaries. Flame me all you want, I'm telling you what i'm seeing...

Look up prices of used STI's, if you can find one. They're very hard to find used since people want to keep them, and when you do find them they're very well priced. Not new price, mind you, but they'll hold their value a lot better than a W-body. I know that from experience...

But not when the cars don't properly differentiate themselves in the market place and end up competing with each other. Things like this are what brought down GM.

That's fine. People have their opinions on looks. It's all subjective. I never bought a GP because I wasn't totally fond of their looks and I thought the interiors looked like ass. But that is simply my opinion.

I have respect for those here. I'm just trying to keep a reality check going. How could I let someone go on believing they should keep their GP because it's going to eventually be worth something when I know otherwise? I'm trying to stop someone from making a bad decision. If posting fact is indeed trolling and I am not welcome then I will leave. I still have quite a bit of 3800 and 4T65E knowledge to help out with, and I'm still a NAIOA mod, but if my car choice upsets others then it's no skin off my back not to be around.

Haha, one of your typical comments. It's a different style. Anyone could easily come back and say that drag racing is for anyone who doesn't know how to handle their car. There's no questioning that autocross and the like is much more about driver skill than racing at a drag strip. It's very easy for a supremely talented driver with a only decent car to beat someone with a kick ass car. That is a more respectable sport to me. Not just who can make their car run in a straight line faster.

And there's also more fun things to do with this car. Anyone who has never been screaming around corners on dirt/gravel sliding around both directions and feeling completely in control should try it.

Point is there is more to the world than straight lines and tarmac, so why not enjoy it in all of its flavors? But if you want I can go drag it. Mid 13s stock with high 12s just after a Stage 1 tune.

I can respect what you're trying to do, but I think you have completely misinterpreted what I have been saying simply because I bought a "crappy Jap" car as you see them. I owned a w-body for 5 years and loved it, but even when I did own it I didn't delude myself about what it is, and what it isn't.

Oh yeah, since there are so many around here, yeah. Thats all I here about out there. So many out there I'm sure there all garage kept so they don't get dirty right? Never seem em around or for sale, sorry. Get over your car dude. Sounds like somebody needs to get that Subaru cock out of there throat.

I never claimed a wbody was worth money. Don't throw words in my mouth. You like things down your throat, not me.

But not when the cars don't properly drentiate themselves in the market place and end up competing with each other. Things like this are what brought down GM.

I least there are different styles and such with good proven powerplants. Pick your poisen and your good to go.

BTW, your trying to do the whole throat thing again. Never said GM was the best at anything.

    Uh huh.

LOL. I donno, when I used to see old big block Mopars run in the 10s w/ no power steering or brakes trying to keep there cars straight, thats pretty neat to see. Takes a pair to drive something like that. Hell my buddies Road Runner was a 12 sec car with power nothing, let me ya, I'd bet 1/2 people here would kill themselves trying to launch that car out of the hole including you. It was a challenge, I like challenges. Alot more useful skill then autocrossing, then again thats my opinion. Some people like going around corners in parking lots, doesn't do nothing for me, sorry. Now trying to do the same thing with my buddies Road Runner, that would be something to see, and he did it before.

And there's also more fun things to do with this car. Anyone who has never been screaming around corners on dirt/gravel sliding around both directions and feeling completely in control should try it.

    Yawn.

I suppose no other cars can do this? Subaru is the best car in the world for everything? Nope, its not sorry. Time to get that... do i really need to repeat that again? LOL Get over your new car dude.

I can respect what you're trying to do, but I think you have completely misinterpreted what I have been saying simply because I bought a "crappy Jap" car as you see them.

I've misinterpreted you huh? Really? Lets take a look at this quote you just said...

I still have quite a bit of 3800 and 4T65E knowledge to help out with, and I'm still a NAIOA mod, but if my car choice upsets others then it's no skin off my back not to be around.

All I can say is "DUMBASS". Your going on a forum dedicated to a certain kind of car bragging on how yours is better, w-bodies suck, blah blah blah, and you have respect for the people here? You just said a line of bull**** there. Oh and heres another dumbass comment....

I owned a w-body for 5 years and loved it, but even when I did own it I didn't delude myself about what it is, and what it isn't.

So tell me again how you have respect for the people here on this forum when you say **** like that? Uh huh. No body said it was the best car in the world, but **** talking it on there own forum isn't right either. I guess some people are just "stuck on stupid".

Dude, get over yourself and your car too. There are many others here who have other cars and have moved on. There not talking ****, why are you? Makes no since to me. Do you think your better than everyone you can by a new one, so can everyone else, including me. Hell, I could add to my fleet and still keep what I got and not sweat, LOL

Since your obviously not smart enough to listen to yourself when typing, let me try to paint you a picture here...

You have the ass for w-bodies and myself or anyone else could give a **** less if you do or not. Why come on a w-body forum and talk ****, when you can go to a Subaru forum (which you think is the best car in the world and the only people in the world who knows how to build a car) and talk **** there with your new buddies.

Makes sense to me. You think your so valuable to the community. I don't see how you are, especially with the bull**** you say here. Follow my lead, don't talk about how other cars are better than a certain car on there own forum. Thats what pricks/ricers do. Is that what you are? I think so, we'll see though.

All i'm saying is have respect for the people here and there owners. Is that so much to ask for? I think not. I'm not going to be respectful to you (obviously) until you change your attitude around here...
