I managed to unscrew the 40th's MAF and bring it home. I'll put it in on another day. It had oil on it. But that car ran fine. We'll see.

The owner of this came into the shop last week for a visit:

Thats one I did eveything but paint on 2-3 years ago, and its still my favorite Ford. For now. Anyway, I asked if he was still showing it and the answer was pointing and telling me about the car show today. I wanted to see my old friend Mach, to see how its holding up. He says perfect.
So I went, knowing he and a few other dudes I know would be there. Of course, I showed up as the tail end of the parade cars were leaving for that. Missed the Mach1 dadgummit.
But since Gary had asked if I to work the Meguiar's display, I knew there would be friends hanging out near that. Place I work was a sponsor, I guess. Anyhow, there were cool local Pontiacs that rarely miss a show-

Pontiac is my main squeeze! Those are a couple nice ones.
The FWD Pontiac in the foreground above... well I can't talk jive about that http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/imag...lies/sweat.gif
So I headed for the black trailer area. Everybody was splitting but I got to hear em which is way best. Saw one of the few bullet T-birds we haven't resto-modded yet at the shop. Been 3 so far.

Anyway yeah, the green one stands out, thats Gary's ride. Hang on, I walk slow on my day off.

Before I made it over there I saw another familiar one.
http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/...psyzrewf4i.jpg
That one is in the current month's issue of StreetTrucks. Sweet. Guess who did bodywork on it?
After that pic, I looked left. Theres Jerry's Camaro and Alvin's Roadrunner. Didn't work on those myself (a little on the Camaro cowl), but where are the guys? Hmm...

Hey wait, I recognize Ray's Model A also-

Gary's. I think I may have straightened quarters and extensions on that. Or something.

Then I was like yeah! I do love a 68 Chevelle! I took the pic and walked around, told the guy there I loved it. He thanked me and proceeded to strike up a little conversation. Of course I asked whats in it, but he didn't know for sure.

That line of four cars is a local rod shop family. Aha. When he said "Thats MY truck" and pointed at the red 55 with 57 cab sitting low with ghost flames, I said I'm your bodyman.
After a lightly awkward pause I said I did your door handles and bear claws and did surgery on your cowl and doors and stuff. Out came a hand and we properly introduced ourselves. Man you just never know who you're standing next to, do ya?
So the Chevelle has an LS3 and I found all my friends and bs'ed then caught a few more pics on the way out. Slim pickins but these are what appealed. I dig the lead sleds.

I think the Bronco is my favorite of all the ones you shot.
It needs a ride height adjustment but yeah that one is a hit with everybody. Its for sale, dude!
So- last time somebody crashed into my GTP was Mother's Day 2015, rearended by a non-english-speaker in a Fusion. My left brain reminded my right of this as I got in the car this morning. At lunch today, a box truck came extremely close to T-boning me. Made me shake for awhile. I don't know how contact was avoided, they must have tapped brake in the last millisecond. This chit absolutely terrifies me and does things that are real bad for old man hearts to me. Why can't they fvcking stop doing that retarded bullsh!t? To ME? Why? @!##$*($@$@(_&^^ bastards. When I washed it the other day, a bird shat on it before I could dry it off. Next time out it poured rain then when that stopped another one crapped five times on it. This is why I can only really enjoy chair and internet now. Its the will of the all.
personally i thought you were going to say you had a mental break down and beat the living **** out of the driver. that **** aint right 1 year to the dam day and you wreck again!!!! If that happened i would go down there with some bubble wrap and make sure your safe. I remember how bad it messed you up.
It just gets on my nerves. Negligence on the road, that is. And any vehicles that come too close to my beautimus GTP!
Boy I sure beat the snot outta the 69GP over the weekend. Well, snot is relative but I caught a enjoy off it. My expletives are much milder today, lol.
I was almost simultaneously rearended by a bike and a Fusion this morning while traveling 50 MPH. I shook til nearly 9. Then on the way home just after passing through the two intersections where I've been totalled in both FWD GPs and broke an arm plus the one where the Ventura was totalled...
BAM!... metal against the GTP floor. I was just rolling down a clear lane going 40, nothing laying in the road ahead, didn't run over anything with the front tires, didn't see anything in the rearview. Too many cars around and behind and too close for me to even flinch, and it was 2 or 3 blocks until a place to pull over. But I did and the right rear was half flat and hissing out a hole in the center of the tread. Nice crispy near-new looking tire ruined. Tiny spot of wheel bearing looking grease on the outer sidewall.
So I unload the rtunk and full spare and all that is a go but since I was using a tire iron, I pulled something in my right arm on the first nut. Some beach. Changed the flat left handed then used the ice thing from my cooler on the arm for the other 15 miles. I can feel it from my fingertips to my shoulder. And I have a bazillion holes to drill at work so hey, what another perfect day! :th_skull:
Check this out- people no kidding want to go 65-70 in 40 zones here. All day long, right through the busy city and this is what happens. Just how fast do you have to be going to cause the damage in the pic? Wow. Rich people pfft. This was near my crib in a 40 zone, and happened about the time I changed my flat.

Yay eerie silence. The clinic that screwed me over settled with me btw. Well the tire that blew yesterday is discontinued and unobtanium again. That seems to come and go but yeah... now its up to a $250 two new tires thing and I have to find another kind of tire that I like and want to mix. On my wages... I'll just run the spare.
You can get the Altimax RT43

Yeah those are a good substitute if you ask a tire guy but I was in love with these HPs. I gotta look around. I dig rain tires but the directional thing creates difficulties for a guy like me. So I'll have to look at those and others. I do have a pair of used Michelins. You know I'll blab about it here.
Just had the nicest several sentence long compliment from a lady who works at a place I buy Grape's gas. She was changing trash bags. She called it a her and said it was "that pretty car" a lot of times and that she sees it go past all the time. There was a spanking new red Italian exotic pulling out as I pulled in, a Ferrari or Lotus maybe. Wonder if they got the same comment lol
Tire research sucks though. Reviews are bunk. I am learning to read between the lies on specs, its kinda like choosing paint in that way.
I'll need a fresh coil before I can install the MSD distributor on the 455. Meh, whats on it now works good. But that new rig is fancy and has a rev limiter and easily modified advance adjustments. Maybe I'll get something brewing this year and do the heads, cam, trans swap, fix that one header, paint the engine and use it. Hmm. Its kinda cool out, think I'll go scoot around in it some more right now.
The way I decided on the RT43's when I had them was from TireRack tests. I looked at reviews and they were similar to another tire I was considering, but the testing TireRack did convinced me to go with the Generals.Quote:

I'm running Falkens now because I couldn't pass up the price point of $300 for 4 tires for similar tires to the Generals.
What I'm still getting my mind around is the classes... touring, grand touring, etc. I may end up with a pair of RT43s, they do have some similar points. They will be discontinued the instant I make a purchase lol. There are a couple older HPs with the lesser speed rating still lingering on my GT. I could deal with having those mixed in, but since they are on different wheels its gonna stay ugly until I get some swapping done at a tire shop. I'm needing to get some 15s for the 69 also. Killin me man.
