Thanks, Blue. Thought it must be a 20. I used PB Blaster then a 21 wrench and a Crescent wrench, it wasn't very rusty. The filter was full of brown though!

Another cleaning and oiling for the GTP today, I swear that thing and I have a relationship like a soldier and his rifle. Thats appropriate because traffic here is not unlike combat. Keeps me on my toes. Anyway, I'm to a point where I'm ready to buzz down the interstate a handful of exits on a hot muggy day. To a place I liked to "scenic drive" when gas was cheaper. My cooling system is untouched by me, except for fans. And theres my jinx, lol.

Thanks man. Last night just exhaust was the song of choice. My mood is so heavy its tough to shake even with sun n tunes at this point. I need a drank.

Picked up some new fuel hose for the carby one and injector o-rings and cleaner for the boosty one. The O'R regional hub didn't even have aluminum elbows, weak.

GTP PCV valve was a little sticky, hosed it with carb cleaner just now. Popped the grape hood and didn't even finish tightening the alt belt before the non dog neigh appears throwing grass in my face with a riding mower that sounds like something is loose under the deck. Packed up toolbox and went in. Garage closed.

Later on yesterday I cleaned up a ground on the GTP core support and it helped the headlights a bunch. Also fixed an issue with one bulb's retainer and re-aimed. Also been wanting more blower whine so I yoinked the airbox and did more whittling on it. NOW it talks to ya almost like a cone. Still can't really tell the box is modified externally, but I enlarged the slots for about twice the inlet area where I previously did work. Inside the box I made an angled cut on the duct so the face of the TB "sees" the slotted area. Twice the whine! Seems like maybe the injector cleaner and PCV cleaning were needed, it runs nice. High humidity does seem to be the thing that makes it stutter on hills. Thats improving.

Excellent thread! I really wish I would have been around to enjoy the days of big blocks and .10c gas prices haha ... You have much better luck with the rattle can than I do. I know it's all in the prep work, but I never get a good result. It always ends up with orange peel or uneven coverage!

You know Matt...I've made a habit out of not getting hit because I suggested people use their brakes.

Either charger whine or smoking tires...both of the them make people stop in their tracks and pay attention

Thanks DB, its all about the junk. I was around when gas and smokes were both 75 cents for a brief period but thats a good 20-30 years after ten cent gas! That woulda been a great time to be alive but honestly so is this. When spray painting with rattle cans, the instructions can be misleading about how wet to spray it so I use spray gun tactics. Whatever is necesary to achieve the desired flow. Putting enough on so that buffing is possible is how to trick the eye into thinking its real paint. Practice makes perfect!

Cryptic post, Bill. I drive junk the idrivejunk way and don't honk. Its all I know. Continue doing whatever helps you feel like you're on top. The GTP won't light up the new tires. It gave me a scare yesterday, thought it might stall going up a hill. Runs pretty soggy overall now actually. I don't think fuel is getting to the rails as it should be. Almost no gas comes out the Schraeder valve when pressed. At first glance it appears the regulator is part of the rail... I've got research and work to do because its going away faster now. May just want another fuel filter and line blown out. Wheres my mechanic hat? Covered in dust no doubt.

Its my luck I guess... any time theres time and money and car so I can get away ... one of those goes away instead. Caught in a loop here, never able to have a summer vacation. Sux but I got a day and a half off finally. Maybe I'll set out on foot in search of a job that solves my life issues and just forget having cars.

Managed to get the regulator out, lol. What a noob I am to EFI. I have a feeling theres a bunch of debris in my fuel system. Gone hunting that armed with carb cleaner, should be fun.

Hey, cool! Local NAPA had aluminum elbows in stock. Man that place is well hidden.

My GTP project of the day is snowballing. Hope I have it rolling in the right direction this time.

Was there any fuel in the vacuum line to the regulator? That would point to a bad reg.

Cryptic? nah.. I just mean that you have enough power in purple to scare the hell out of the locals. Once they fear it, they won't try to hit it.

In traffic I'm like a dog in a cattle stampede lol. No fuel in that line. Did squirt cleaner in the wet side and rinsed out some silt. Changed fuel filter again and no funny business on the paint strainer over coffee can this time. Drove it prolly 15 miles just now and only detected one faint instance of the issue.

Before doing that, opening the valve on the front rail produced maybe a half second dribble. Now I get water hose-like pressure there, as it should be. I may actually have a tool here to put a number on pressure but can't find it. Like my mind, the garage is a mess. I don't know the consensus on them but am inclined to wonder if a couple weeks of injector cleaner in the gas might do the rest. Ah, rest. I'll stop here for now on that issue and see how it goes.

Grape... been mostly sitting lately. Need to move it and mow. I bet most '16 base rental sedans can hang with or stomp it. Its just loud and heavy.

Loud and large are scary to them little sedans. Imagine if you rub fenders with them. Yours might lose a little paint, they get totalled.
