Thanks, I wish I could just cut it down, but that changes the volume and the tuning frequency of the box. I'm at the minimum box size of 1.5 cu/ft net already and if I increase the port length to compensate it will be about twice the length. So I'm just going to scrap it. I'll leave it in for now. I haven't even run the wires yet. If I go with an Aperodic system it will be like just having a free air system with a small box on the back. I may go up to the Soundstream SPLX 15's, but the magnet structure is 37# each the 12's aren't as heavy and I have a set of SPL 10's as well and could have a 1 cu/ft net for those and they sound good.

I either want to be able to easily pull it out or take up minimum space and weight. Then there is the whole issue of amps, I have waaaay to many choices.

Panel saw...drool. I don't do much work that requires full sheets, mostly hardwoods, but when I do I dream of panel saws. I plan on getting a track saw one of these days, fe$tool ideally of course, but the grizzly looks like it would do what I need as infrequently as I'd use it. I have a decent outfeed table for my table saw but my fence only allows 36" cuts. I need to start making sawdust again, once I clean all the car parts off my tables lol.

We use it a lot for building pallets so it usually get used in this configuration:

We used to crate a lot of our equipment and had a table saw years and when I worked in the shop I hated that thing. I was cutting 1" thick UHMW plastic into 1.5" square spacers and kept telling my boss that I didn't like using it and he said that he would look into getting something else. Well after getting kicked in the face by one I ended up cutting the cord attaching it to a 220v plug removed the blade and plugged it in until it burned up. My boss came back and I told him what happened and he said that we still needed to cut a bunch of pieces so I told him he better get on getting something else. I had a pretty good cut and my face was swelled up where it hit my cheek and I kept my face turned until he started getting mad then turned around and said nobody else is messing with this saw! We got this panel saw the next week. I was so pissed and kept telling him that cutting UHMW was too dangerous for cutting small pieces on a table saw. This one I believe is a Saw Trax brand, it's ok it works pretty well but I had to get onto the guys because when they cut panels they would run through it as fast as possible and the blade would wander, and the cuts would come out off. That and they never change the blades. Since we hired a new shop supervisor I've been able to get him on board maintaining the equipment.

So Chris, what kind of woodwork do you do?

Never saw a panel saw, thats wicked! Oops on the box but hey it'll burn if nothing else. I do get it about throwing the cu ft off. Only becasuse my bro was a stereo guy 20+ years. When he built the 3 cubic footer in my 69 GP he stood the 12" woofers vertically crammed to the center facing rearward in a baffle, and had notches in the top corners for the 6x9s. So in the center its right against the tray with 2 14" long slots to fire through. said its a seventh order bandpass box whatever that means. Its great for pipe organ notes, lol. Kinda a joke by today's standards but that shape might be an alternate idea.

I'll draw up the Aperodic system later. I started installing in 1987 so I've been doing it for a minute or two lol. I used to compete in competitions back in the 90's and one of the trucks I built won the 90' ISCA 0-100 watt Amatuer Class. We hit 138.6 Db with 2 punch 45's and 4 15" subs in what was called the Texas W. It was in a 86 1/2 Nissan Hardbody extended cab. It was loud and we blew a lot of amps but we had a sponsor and took about 5 extra amps with us and removed the fuses and installed copper plugs lol. We were running a 2ohm mono load. It was too low and we knew it but it worked. I wish I had pics of all the systems we did. I did one of the Chester Cheetah Astro vans for PPI. I have a bunch of pics of the 4wd trucks I worked on in the last few years but nothing from the age before digital cameras.

This is is a Suzuki Samurai I did all the electrical for as in everything. This is the switch panel I made. It has front and rear winches, onboard compressor with tanks, switches for fans, fuel pump, master shutoff, front and rear ARB airlockers, and some other stuff.

This one started out with a Painless harness and I ended up removing a lot of wiring and redoing the electrical system. This one was setup with a weldernator I made for him. This truck was fully handbuilt frame included. It has a 454 with an Edelbrock Proflow system and has Rockwell axles:

also had pinion brake, axles welded of course.

If anyone watched Monster Garage, one of the guys I know bought it. It was really a POS they used a grinder after installing all the gauges and they were all pitted. The guy that bought it sent it to a guy in AL. To have the suspension redone. Once back he wanted it to be street legal. I ended up building LED lights for the turn signals up front because the huge radiator wouldn't allow regular lights fit. I ended up ripping every single wire out of it and doing a complete rewire. He bought a Painless setup but it didn't have everything needed so I ended up making my own. The only wiring I kept was for the Edelbrock Pro Flo. The rear steer was pneumatic and ran off a paintball canister with a regulator on it. The guy was a pilot for United and was totally clueless. I ended up having to help with the hydraulics for the rear steer and had some issues with the PS pump it had a -10 fitting brazed to the back and kept getting air in the system. He also had a toy hauler that was a gooseneck trailer with a RV section and a rear area to drive the truck up on.

Funny thing he calls me one day and asked if he could hook up the trailer to his welding plug and I told him that RV's run on 110VAC and his welder was 220. He hooked it up anyway so I had to replace the charge controller. Lol. I'll have to dig up pics of it.

Kickbacks suck. That had to hurt. I've never taken one in the face but had a piece hit me square in the chest. Felt like a mule kick. Taught me to respect the tools though, and I work as safe as possible now. I am just a weekend hobbyist. Mostly gifts, toys, picture frames, end grain cutting boards etc. I've given most away, I think I like tweaking tools and making jigs for projects more than creating a finished piece lol. My favorite tool is my table saw, its an old Craftsman 1.5 horse I restored with a Delta Biesemeyer style fence. Its dialed in and cuts smoother than anything you can buy in a big box store. I like restoring old hand planes too. I need to get the shop cleaned of all the stinky dirty car parts so I can litter it again with some fragrant saw dust.

138.6 Db damn ouch! Thats organ-massagingly loud lol. I never got too friendly with electrons but yep. Nice clean installs there man. That pinion brake is wig, too.

Scotty I hardly ever go in them places. I don't think I'm qualified to stand next to that monster! I am familar with vacuum assist sanding, and man is it handy. Worked at one place that had vac drops in all stalls but I'd go dump it and there would be trash in it so it got abused. I bet these things kick out a ton of sawdust quick.

Lol Home depot has them alright and I tried to use them a few times. You really have to be careful because they never change the blade so they are dull and they hit the thing with a forklift every once in a while. I made a box more than once where I had to make changes with a saber saw in order to get the parts to fit together. The very first time I tried to use them I just put the parts together and when I was done the box didn't even sit flat on the floor. I did a couple having them make the easy cuts. The last time I tried to use them I ended up leaving the wood there on the saw because when I measured corner to corner (diagonally) it was off by a whole inch I don't mind paying for the extra cuts, but come on. When I said it needed to be better they were like "we just do rough cuts", no kidding why don't you just lay it over a board and have someone jump on the other end then. After that I just figured it was easier to do it myself even if it meant using a saber saw for the whole thing. I used regular ole Skill saws for a long time and table saws when I had help, but this panel saw is the cats pajamas, and I am super lucky to be able to use it and the rest of the shop really. Matter of fact last night a friend called and stripped out a spark plug the kit they sell wouldn't reach so we went to the shop and made it work. Didn't get in till after 2, but got the job done.

Chris, that's pretty neat, I am not very good with wood to be honest. My Mom worked at a "Nude Furniture" place that sells furniture that hasn't been stained it's bare, but she worked in the back doing staining and finishing. I would hang out there and learned a little from her. I remember always being amazed how well a piece would look after it was done. I used to do some wood trim pieces for cars out of pine usually and would just sand them stain and put several coats of polyurethane finish on it and people would ask if it was Mahogany. It was just a little pine trim. I try to make all my cuts as precisely as possible but they never come out perfect. I guess I am so used to working with metal now that it just ticks me off when something is even 1/16" off, and there were several places on this box where it just wasn't right. Didn't have any gaps, but had to use a router on a couple of spots. And I hate table saws, just scared of them. When I got hit in the face I thought it ripped the skin off of my face I had to ask the welder if I was Ok. I couldn't even touch my face. Getting hit by a little square block of plastic sucks but could have been worse.

Drive, 138.6 is loud but back in that day Mark Fakuda was ruling the Db world at right in the 150 Db level iirc at the time. We built a 91' Full size Chevy extended cab step side for another friend that had 8-15" (punch) and a Power 650 and ended up blowing the 650 (POS Rockfords) we ended up installing a pair of Autotek 7300's (500W each) and hit 148.6 exactly 10Db louder which is just crazy the doors looked like they were breathing. That truck was the first time I saw a crack race across a windshield. My buddy pulled the TBI 350 and 700R4 and dropped in a high winding 350 and a TH350 full manual VB in it. It was a brand new truck and when his Dad got wind of it (he was working in Thailand) he mad him put the drivetrain back to stock. That truck saw a lot of street races here in Houston and ended up getting shot at, but that's another story.

So this weekend I went to the junkyard and had some cash on me got into the yard walked around looking at regular GP's and for 9C1 04' Impalas. My list to get was:

2 door lock actuators for the front doors.
    2 for the rear.
3 lock ends (the thing you push and pull to lock the door)
switches for the AC because the button is stuck on, not really a big deal right now.
A 1" radiator with the 9C1 trans cooler and what ever else I can pilfer from that package. (04' Impala only)
    Or a 1" core for a GTP
    Late model Fbodies.

I forgot my wallet so it wasn't a loss, had the $4 for these pieces.

I didn't find anything except these pieces that clip from the lip of the rad to go over condensor to block air from passing air between the two at that area. I didn't notice any other ducting that I am missing, but noticed the lower section has a **** load of missing hardware. I'm going to have to get in there and take care of that. I noticed my temps have dropped slightly, but I haven't gotten a comparable run yet. Tomorrow should be a good test it was 101 today it's supposed to be 102.

It was so hot even the Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man couldn't even wave.

Yeah, he better watch out Al might have his cousin Darth, Force choke him or something, or cleave him in twain.

I'm still looking for the 40th rails for you. No luck yet, and I am not real sure where the other GTP's went I saw 1 06'GT and it already had the entire cradle dropped and sitting out on the ground. The engine was still there but someone had removed it.

According to the interchange only the parts from the 04' Impala will fit the 05' GTP. Not real sure what the deal with 05' and up Impalas is but apparently it only shows 04' as a fit.

So my shift kit is on it's way and now I need to pick up a gasket (or not? I read the thread) and about 42 gallons of Dex 6 and a filter.

Bill, were you able to get any dimensions on that tube holder thingy? Really just need the thickness of the material used and the length and width (looks about 2"X2" square). the grooves I can just measure and the tubes when I get there.

Nope clean and reuse stock gasket. It takes about 8-10qts it's nice to have some extra. Also Dorman makes a pan with the drain plug for around $35. Worth it to make future pan drops easier.

Thanks, that is good to know I was actually thinking of putting in a drain plug! I'm definitely going to do this on a weekend and may start running wires for the system while I let it drain. I figured I would judt buy a case of oil since it was going to be pretty close to the whole thing anyway. the last time I did a shift kit I think it took 5 quarts and I dropped the valvebody on my face.

I installed one of them there nifty universal drain plugs in my pan when I did my kit. Leak free install. Also stuck a couple extra neodymium magnets in the pan...just because.

Edit: knowing I was gonna put the plug in, I just drilled a hole in the pan before starting, to drain before removing the pan.

When I did mine a few weeks ago.. Went with the Dorman pan, transgo shift kit, 2 gm magnets.. And ordered 3 gals of Dexron vI off amazon.. I wanted to have extra for future use instead of paying $8-9 a qt at the local parts store.

If you can, pick up another 2-3 accumulator spring and stick it in the 1-2 accumulator, it'll help the 1-2 shift even more. I also picked up a spare 0.5" spacer for the 1-2 accumulator, and added the extra spring to the 1-2 essentially malking the 1-2 and 2-3 accumulators identical.

Bandook, that's kinda what I was thinking before you made the edit, sure would keep the mess to a minimum. I'm going to do it at the shop, 1 for AC, 2 for the polished floors, and 3 for the making the little tube holder thing.

Red, I'm going to look and see about that, I'm sure I'll need it sooner rather than later.

Booba, where would I find another 2-3 spring? I guess I could wait until it comes in measure it check the spring rate and get one from Century if they have one like that. As far as the spacer business, I keep looking for it and see references to one but haven't found any info other than its .5" thick. I'm sure I could make one (some?) if I had some dims.
