    Love the compliments guys.

No scotty, I haven't test fitted anything yet. What we're gonna have to do is raise the cradle into the car and bolt it up, then see if the hood'll clear. If not, we're gonna have to get or make some cradle spacers.. I'd rather not notch the hood bracing, though I guess it does count as weight reduction

Bill, thanks for the tip on the insulation. I think I'm gonna go with the thermal block. It's really not that bad of a price for 6 sq ft., and I'm thinking I can probably do the firewall and whole exhaust tunnel with it.

98buicksupercharged: Thanks. My plan right now is to get the rockers done before winter, and then get a paint job after winter. I really want to keep this color though, I love it. It's the only car I've ever seen with it and depending on the day it can be anywhere from purple to brown to maroon. I believe it's called auburn nightmist shade

Chamberlain198437: Thanks! It'll definitely won't be a car that's just gonna sit in the garage though lol

Alright guys I need some advice.. I'm looking at fuel pumps, but I'm not sure which one I should get. I managed to source out a plastic fuel tank for $50, so I'm definitely gonna do that. Being a 99, I'm pretty positive I have the venturi, and I've heard nightmares about people switching to non-venturi style and stalling out at 1/4 tank of gas on hard turns. This is gonna be a daily driver, and will probably end up going on more than a few road trips, so I can't have that, and I definitely don't want a pump that goes out once a year. I was thinking about getting a fuel pump that would work with e85 just in case I wanted to switch over in the future I wouldn't have to do anything but tune for it...

You guys got any suggestions for me?

So just to let you guys know... I've been looking around for fuel lines and brake lines (and now a parking brake assembly ). I was about to order some ZZP ss braided lines, but then I found these. Almost half the price!!

I still need the hard lines and fuel lines, but I just saved $60 haha. Anyways, i just figured I'd let people know in case there's anyone out there looking for some ss lines.

Well, not too much got done this weekend. Was finishing up the grinding in the rear so we could undercoat the rest of the car after moving the stands, and the sheet metal poked right through to the trunk. Stupid rust So I finally gave in and bought a (relatively) cheap welder from harbor freight... 170A MIG.

Forgot to get a picture of the holes into the trunk. The welder came with a really short (240V) cord so I couldn't reach to weld up the rear, but I did manage to get the new bottom rad support welded on.

ALOT of crappy welds later.. it's on and not going anywhere

    And my brand new toy

This next weekend we need to either get a 240 extension cord, or make one so we can reach the rear of the car. Then we can finish undercoating the underbody and start putting it back together.

Oh and I also picked up an AL rear bumper from a 2004 caddy, it's a tad long and only two holes line up, but the mounting plates line up perfectly so we'll just have to modify it a lil and it should work great. It's rather amazing the difference in weight between this one and the stock one, especially since this one's probably a good foot longer right now. It's convinced me too grab an aluminum one for the front if I have time... we're cutting it close on time right now.

there is no way the hood will close with that intercooler. you are going to have to cut a hole in the hood and do a custom hood scoop like me. here are some pictures to give you an idea of how little clearance I had.

I thought about using cradle spacers. I have lowering springs in my front end, so I used motor and transmission mount spacers to raise it back up. The cradle spacers would probably be counterproductive

Yea definitely not gonna cut a hole in the hood.. looking to keep a mostly stock look. Those cradle spacers are just made out of 5/16" stainless right? I'll look into the cost of metal and if it's worth it I'll fab em up myself, if not I'll just pay the $20 or whatever it is for ZZP's.

AL will corrode, but it will not rust like iron or steel. Also, AL=weight savings

its not rust, but corrosion when two different metal types are in contact with each other.

Thanks for the insight bill. Corrosion also occurs when metal attempts to return to it's natural state
