Lol, found that video a little bit ago. I will follow it. I have to go a little dark than you Scottydoggs only BC I'm also trying to hide imperfections in my tails too. But hopefully the look and finish will come out better this time.

3 coats is as dark as you ever want to go, or no light will shine through at all.

when he did the close up of 3 coats and 2, thats when i made up my mind how far i was going. even at 2 coats it looked so fdark till wet sanded and buffed out.

    no coats yet.

    one coat.

and 2 scared the hell out of me for a while. till i wet sanded and buffed, then i was happy as can be.

the masking tape shows just how much was put on too.

i was all over regalgs.org's board looking at tinted tails, and from what i saw i liked the lighter look better with the reverse lights masked off so they still worked.

mine came out more like that guy "flip" who used to paint them the right way with clear and black tint added to it.

seen some of his regal tail light work, looked sharp. and was what i was after. without the cost of course lol

Exactly why I won't deal with vht lol. Sure some guys (you being one of them) have good luck with them but body shops can generally tint these things for cheap and usually look 100x better. Especially in FL where heat us a constant issue

Lmao, my thread has become a vht debate. Awesome! Picked up the proper clear last night so today I will attempt round two. Here's another question, anyone have any success w/a clear coat product to use after removing the haze from headlights? Not for my car but for the wifes Odyssey. In the VHT instruction video Scottydoggs posted in this thread the guy uses Krylon fusion for plastic, I believe, when he does the "eyebrows" on the headlights. So I'm wondering if something like that would work?

ive used the krylon clear. on the tail lights, and my bumpers when i repainted them.

if your gonna wet sand the head lights to make them clear again just sand them and buff em. should last a long time like that.

this is a bad pic byt the left headlight is wet sanded and buffed with a buffer. you can see its clearer then the not done right side light.

short of a spot on both lights that wont un haze they look almost new.

Friend of mine said he's done that on his jeep and they keep re-frosting, if thats a word. Dont know if its just his technique, the material or a combination.

you can clear coat them. so far so good with mine, they were pretty shot looking before hand. they are a month old now and still as clear as when i cleaned them up.

if i have to re do them every year its no big deal to me really. i also have a buffer, so i compound the tails and the head lights all the time anyways. well once a year at least.
