Now the ratcheting sprag, if it were ratcheting I'd actually hear it ratcheting when I spin it by hand, right? This is quiet when I spin it by hand, but the larger gear has a burr on the end of the teeth.

Yup. Clicky clicky. Plus, the ratcheting sprag is non serviceable. If you can take it apart (has blue retaining spring/ring) it's a regular sprag. From everything I've read, there's no advantage to the ratcheting sprag over the regular sprag.

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!
Ruh-roh that pin got loose and ate sprag or case or whatevz. I bet there were noshing sounds aplenty. What a raw hamburger that thing is. Do you need a plain core thats not all hamburgery?
Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!
Other than that sprag and the frictions, it's actually not that bad. The frictions are about $30 a set or so, and the bands are $50 each, if I replace the reverse band. That pin sheared off and fell straight into the pan from the looks of it, nothing seems to be chewed up other than what you can see on the diff case which isn't all that bad. Not sure about the burrs on the sprag, I'll have to get some opinions. Oh and it has a ZZP 300M IS.
Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!
So there is actually some beef among all the burger! I see. :th_thumbsup-wink:
Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!
Oh yea, the wear items and a few minor repairs and it'll be good to go, I think.
Re: 2000 GTP: Transmission Fun
Hey Booba. Wow. I literally just spent 3 days reading this entire thread. Just like a car wreck, I could help but look and just like a good book, I couldn't stop until I read the last post. You got mad skills.
ENVY! Oh yeah, I got it bad. Probably the biggest thing I noticed is that your wife hasn't kicked your a** to the curb yet. What is this, 3 years you've been working on this car? I think that most people, even most people on this site wouldn't have put 1% of the work you've done into a car that was in the condition yours was in. I used to say that there's not much use polishing a turd. I might have to make an exception in this case. Imma keep my eye on you. Learned a lot just from reading this thread. You keep posting, I'll keep reading and learning.
Re: 2000 GTP: Transmission Fun
Thanks man, a lot of what I know I've learned on the way, just have to read and make sure you have a firm understanding of what, why and how you are doing something. I don't always work on the car, I kind of go in spurts. I'll work on the car for awhile, but stop for a few months. I'm actually coming out of a down time right now. I've spent the last few months building a swing set, picnic tables, and bunk beds for my kids, lol.

Kinda figures. Carpenter too?
Although that ladder to the penthouse apartment doesn't look stock.
I can tell you're experienced because you built a big picnic table and then you took the trouble to make a smaller table for when you get kicked from the big one. Smart. I hope you didn't have to go to Home Despot.
Wish I had a playhouse like that. I'm soooo jealous.
Any plans for the finish on the tables?
Future mods?
Sorry, couldn't resist that last one.
Re: 2000 GTP: Transmission Fun
Larger table is painted green, and has a center trough for drinks and ice and whatnot. The kids table is treated wood on the frame, but the seats and top are painted red, yellow, and blue. Playhouse, has a rockwall, 3 swings, 4 foot slide, 7 foot tube slide, ladder, talking tube, ball maze, chalk board, noise wall, and a bucket\pulley system. Future plans are to paint it once all the treated wood dries out enough, a bubble window, and maybe a few other odds and ends.

Good old odds and ends and what-not! Thats what I would have to call transmission parts. Ha.

He didn't go to Home Depot because they didn't have boards straight enough. He went into the forest and chopped down trees and made his own lumber.

Funny you say that, there are 3 mills around me and I almost went to one of them for some 4x6s that were 14 feet long, lol.
Re: 2000 GTP: Transmission Fun
Well ****. The diff is toast. I'll snap a few pics later, but that roll pin shearing off allowed the center pin to move and the spider gears to wear against it leaving burrs. That center pin is NOT coming out. With the tools I have at least. Even if I did get it out, it's still toast. I bent my 6 ton press trying to get it out, then wailed on it with my 3 pound sledge (I knew it was bad at this point, so I wanted to see the carnage and whatnot). It move about 1\4 on the press and 1\4 inch with the hammer then STOPPED. Oh well. I'll have to get a pic of the 1\2 inch of shaft I did get to show. You'll see why it doesn't move. Now the hunt for a decent diff begins, once I separate this output shaft.

Re: 2000 GTP: Transmission Fun
Productive day today, I was able to get the car tuned a bit better, then TB swapped on, and a brief log before the laptop died. Everything is awesome with the TB, the engine sounds better, it made a pretty big difference in the butt dyno (confirmed by my buddy who was with me for both drives), and it looks great. I started the day with driving the same drive I'd be doing all the tests on, logging it, and making changes to the fuel trims. This was the first time I had really done that since putting the LQ4 on, so it wasn't very pretty. Lots of over +10% LTFT, I knew it was bad, but not that bad. I'd been staying out of boost because of it. I did get some WOT runs in, with a max of 5.00* KR.
Using a cell with 5672.25 RPM for reference, I had 9646.97hz, 2.02*KR, and 158 kPa (8.2PSI). I ran some fueling changes, drove for 30 miles, which was 10 miles after the fuel trims had settled down and stayed consistent. Lean, about 7-8% at 0% idle and cruising, then the second I touched the throttle it'd drop to -3%thru+3%. I logged the way home, let it cool off, swapped the TB, and went for the same cruise, logged the way home, but my laptop died halfway thru. I did get the WOT run in the beginning, the rest would have been hills and cruising. On that run, using the same 5672.25 RPM cell for reference (with 3 MPH), I was at 9905.27hz, 0.43*KR, and 164kPa(9.08PSI) with a max KR of 3.33* for the entire log. It should be mentioned that it was a 7.2*F difference in the IAT and 3.6*F in difference in ECT between the 2 logs, the cooler log being with the ported TB. Also, fuel trims were a lot better with the second log, so that may have helped with the KR.
So at the same RPM, that's an increase of 6 KPA (0.88PSI) and a 258.3hz increase from the throttle body. If I compare the highest MAF and kPa readings of the entire logs, there is a 331hz difference and a 1 PSI difference before and after. Problem with comparing those readings is that new setup was 125 RPM higher at that point in the log.
I have some fine tuning to do, don't get me wrong, but for a straight swap I can feel a pretty noticeable difference. After I get the fueling in line I'm better I can throw some more timing at it. That'll come later on though...pics!!!!!

OhX2, headlights are ripped apart, replacing the halos with the switchbacks finally. I'll have pics of that later.
