Oh hose, lol. They didn't test it, but I know the guys and if it leaks or anything they'll take care of it. I'll have to check and see what line pressure it is...I remember seeing something well north of 1,000 PSI, so I'll be good.

So that was kind of a backfire that required another trip to the JY. Plan was I sold my old transmission cooler setup to a buddy who has a 97 GTP...I forgot about the 97 part. I was going to just swap the transmission cooler lines with the cooler still attached so no hose cutting or anything...but that 97 part came into play once we got everything ripped apart. different cooler line connections. No biggie I guess I finished up his car, then today we drove up to the JY at 7:30 AM today and made out pretty good. I picked up the line I needed, 9c1 HD cooling fans, a **** ton of bumper clips, front endlinks (for my buddy's 97), a radiator hose, 2 bumper trip pieces that were broke on my car, and a heated seat switch for my buddy, for $50. Worked out pretty good, I think. Here's how my car sits now:

I noticed this right away...damn it:

Replacement at the JY, I figure it was just a few bucks and looked brand new. This car looked like it just had a bunch of new stuff put on, endlinks, hoses, belts, brake pads, etc. all looked brand new. Even had aluminum coolant elbows.

    Plastic parts:

Still need to clean these up, but I did test them at the JY:

Here's the transmission lines, ends up this other 9c1 I found at the yard had crimped connectors on the transmission line, unlike the original 9c1 I pulled the cooler off. Meaning I didn't need to spend $27 on this hydraulic hose. Oh well. Eventually I'll probably get another hydraulic hose made like this one so I can change the cooler to stand alone easily during the summer.

More to come when it's not so freakin HOT!

You're from PHX. Suck it up. Get out there and get it done! LOL.

Doesn't that fat vacuum hose from the TB to the purge valve drive you nuts?

It's the humidity that kills me here, Phoenix is hot, but you get soaking wet in like an hour. I've sweat places I didn't know I could sweat from since I've moved here. That fat vacuum line coming from the bottom of the TB? That's actually PCV. I my actually try and route it around the other way out of sight.

People that have never been here have a hard time understanding that.

That's what I did on grandpa's car. IIRC, the factory piece is under $20.

That line is there because of the Gen V's PCV setup. I had to drill\tap the bottom of the TB and run that line to the back side of the supercharger for proper PCV functionality. I don't remember if it kinked or what when I ran it around back, but I'll try it again.

Yea, humidity sucks. At least I have seasons out here though, not just f*cking hot, slight less hot, a few nice days, a few cold days, then repeat.

I think I am going to troll the Jy for a nice aftermarket Tube and Fin if I can't find something like the 9C1 Caprice, most of those are gone now. I hardly ever see a Caprice or even 92-95 Taurus come through anymore. Looking good as Always Booba.

Being from Houston I understand being soaked and no relief, mad at the world of the humidity you speak of. It's crazy, I went to Denver years ago and everyone was complaining about the heat and I had just gotten off the plane and driven to the plant. I was joking that's it's 95 at best and he claimed it was over 100 and that they had to open the doors to the compressor room because they were shutting down. The equipment I was working on was right in front of those doors. I was under it saying to myself, it's hot air but at least I'm not soaked. Next day the headline he showed me was "108, Hottest it's been Since 1978". Humidity sucks.

Oh I remember being in Phoenix during the record 127*F day. It was HOT but not really that bad. A lot like holding a hair dryer in front of your face where ever you went. I didn't know you were looking for a cooler, I woulda grabbed you one. If you are still looking next time I go up I'll grab one, clean it up and send it to ya. They're stupid easy to install and remove with these C clip type fittings.

I was thinking about the power steering cooler, but I don't really think I need it. I'm also wondering how much a difference these 9C1 fans will make. I've seen others do the swap but never a review of the difference or the CFM rating or anything. I have dual Taurus fans on the truck, so I'm sure these won't touch that. Something north of 8000 CFM there.

Man I have the perfect thing to measure current draw from these things. I have a 150 amp data logger. It's for RC cars but it logs 3 Temps RPM voltage (<50V) and (150A) current I've actually measured 178 amps on it. I could send it to you if you wanted to do a side by comparison.

Thanks, Come to think of it I have a pretty large cooler one in storage.

Eh, The draw would be cool, but I'm more interested in CFM. I can see the fans are the same size whereas the GP's fans have 1 smaller fan. The 9C1s supposedly have 2 of the larger fans, but one has 5 blades and I think the other has 8, maybe 10. I'll count em when I clean it up.

Wait, your talking about 9C1 on a W body then? Current draw will tell you a lot as well. The pitch and number of blades is important as well. I think I may give it a try on my car and see what I get. The only way you could get close to CFM is using an anemometer.

Yea, I'm talking about a 9C1 Impala. Has the GMPP suspension package (front\rear sway bars, and trailing arms), oil cooler, transmission cooler, power steering cooler, HD cooling fans, thicker radiator (I think, but the 96 Monte's radiator is still thicker), and a few other odds and ends.

No kidding, I knew about the older 9C1's for the older Caprice and Impala's and the F41 upgrades for the G bodies, guess I musta spaced out that the W body was a cop car, lol. I'm going to keep a look out for some in the JY now thanks for the tip.

Tubular trailing arms or the coolers up front are the dead giveaways. They also (like damn near every Impala\Regal\Monte out there) have the STB up front and 01+ has an aluminum subframe (that you should already have being an 04+).

I'll keep n eye out for sure. There are plenty of Imp's in the yard just need to look for an old cop car.

And yes it is a sauna.

Didn't get anything done to the car last night, I had to go through our internet computer, It was over heating and locking up so I tore it down, cleaned all the connections with a pencil eraser followed by alcohol, replaced all the thermal grease with copper anti-seize (read about it online so I'm trying it out), cleaned out all the dust (wasn't really THAT bad), and oiled all the fans. Long story short, my back has been in pretty good shape for awhile and I didn't realize I was hunched over for a good few hours until it was too late, lol. I'll finish the car up tonight. I could work on it now, but it's hotter than it was yesterday and I don't really need the car until Friday.

SO far it is running a lot cooler, but obviously it could be everything else I did to. It seems to happen whenever I'm copying data. I have to copy 330GB of ISOs over from my laptop over to my bigger PC and it seems that locks it up. That's why I was thinking it was overheating. I'm gonna try the copy now again and see if it locks up again. It's a total hardware lock. Mouse freezes, no BSOD, nothing.
