^^^^I think yes!! intake manifold paint!!!
this gold thing i have going....is your f*ing fault lol but i like it
My battery tray was F*cked too! I was amazed I was able to get all the bolts holding the tray out, It was a miracle! Well I have a bunch of zero gauge wire cause I'm a car audio junkie and no battery tray so I think I'm gonna do the relocation as well and free up some under the hood space. I was thinking about sanding down the rusty metal and then maybe I can just go over it with some spray paint.
1st things first....so i have in my position finally the new fuse box cover and the battery current sensor.
Starting with the battery current sensor, i talked with the master tech at GM when i picked it all up today and they explained to me that the stock sensor on my car (GM part #10306471) was a known issue with the cars that it was installed in from 2005 to very first off the line 2007s. Then it was superseded by GM part #13505369 at that point which is supposed to fix the issues. continuing my talk with him the purpose of said sensor is to help regulate the power in the car from the alternator and also provides the voltage the the Drivers information center shows. (Didn't ask how it works didnt really care lol). Also when i told him that sometimes when i have the alternator tested when the cars electrical is acting weird the regulator in the alternator shows being bad and other times it didn't, well guess what....this stupid piece of crap sensor can make it appear so to the simple testers that it is a bad alternator...go freaking figure. well hopefully this fixes my problems when i stick it in tomorrow!!
Secondly my intake....i picked up an ls6 intake today for a steal of a price....but it's not going in till next year when i get all my DoD parts to remove DoD.....lifters, cam, so on so forth
but the ls1 intake that will be going on in a day or two when the weather clears up is almost ready to install....gotta to actually paint it now and clear coat and it'll be ready.
Products used in the making of this intake
this was used for removing all of the old paint and did a fantastic job...only took 10-12 hours of soaking on it.

A couple pics of the intake after reapplying it in the corners and all to try and get as much paint as possible out before repainting.

and after i got as much paint as i could off....i gave it a super through brake parts cleaner...like 4 cans worth (probably a little overkill but what ever) then soaked in a tub of super how water to remove any remaining gel out of the crack (don't want it left on for painting...cause that wont work well) and to dry the intake after being so wet i baked it in the oven on about 150 degrees for about 2 hours.

For the actual painting process i used the following and in order from left to right as well.

and i followed these steps exactly (from ls1tech.com/forum) and so far they are working greatly.

after putting the filler on

and this is after the adhesive and primer was put on.

word of advice....dont do anything with that bulldog adhesive bull sh*t inside...that stuff smells so bad and i can't make the smell go away...terrible.
Currently the intake is sitting and is about 11 hours away from getting its gold layers (texastanker) and clear coats.
And just for the PM i received on rusted battery tray i used a drill with wire brush attachment and did that till it was all shiny silver and then painted it with bed liner...just in-case i ever need it again.

Interesting.
So its ready for dinner? You said it would be ready for breakfast lol
and.....the intake is ready to install :D all nice and gold. Since it's gold doesnt that increase the value 27%?
so from first layer of gold to three coats of clear
ready............................................. .................................................. .........go

FVCKING AWESOME. You Sir, did a great job. So much fvcking gold.
I have a Midas hard on right now.
^^ if you have the midas touch i wouldnt touch any food or anything else lol
dont know if your knock sensors are under the lim on your engine, but its was recommended to remove the foam at the ends, then rtv the foam plugs over the sensors. dont be surprised if one or both have water in them and are rusty looking. this is my firends truck it had a knock sensor code, so i had to change them both.
like this.

GEN 4 blocks ave relocated knock sensors, instead we have a horrendous dod valley tray.
How much hp/tq does a LS2 intake really yield for our cars?
Enough lol
