Bought me a $10 heat gun and went to town for a few hours yesterday. 95% of the sound deadener crap removed. Picture doesn't do justice to the size of the pile.

Good to see someone enjoy this thread.

Put bumper cover back on. Now off to my dad's so I can weld in the big holes in the firewall.

    Thanks

Got some free time for once so I started on my heads.

Remember that "tool" I made to set the height, turns out the kit came w/one already. LOL. Here is theirs. Supposed to be 1.800", measured out to 1.780".

Here is the one I made at my gubberment job. 1.797", yeah I know... Got a little happy with the file.

    Heights set.

    Seals installed.

    Finished.

Took a lot longer to measure and shim then double check than everything else combined. So now one done one to go.

Got some work done on my doors. Pulled off power mirrors and replace w/my manual ones. Pulled the vapor barrier, the harness, speakers and insulation. Keeping door panels off for now, until the crash bars and manual regulators get taken care of. As always some pics.

The speakers alone weigh about 5 pounds, all in all I bet he is shaving 10-12 pounds off each door. I think all that sound deadner crap weighs somewhere between 10 to 15 pounds. The cage looks good silver, the car is coming along nicely!

How did I miss all this? Cage looks great, but enjoy sliding over those doorbars- Mine suck, and they're 30 degree drop. She's looking good!

What I've taken out so far isn't much, realistically 7-8lbs total. All the weight savings is going to come from the crash bars and manual regulators. That should be around 14lbs a door. I really want to minimize the amount of harness the car has as much as possible.

Thanks, wish I could take credit for the cage.
The deadener I scraped off the floor is supposed to be in the neighborhood of 16lbs.

The door bars aren't THAT bad, its the wire for the net that bites me every time. The new column I got has tilt, we'll see if it helps.
