I feel really good about my $700 trans. I wouldn't pay 1700+ ever. If there's a guy (Dave) that knows these transmissions better than anybody else, to me that's better than any warranty.
What all are you planning on doing to the tranny?

I doubt they will warranty a trans with your parts in it.

already asked him, ive known the owner for 3+ years
he said he can install my parts without an issue, but he told me he isn't able to tune my PCM if i change to 3.29 gears, and regardless of parts they will warranty it for 3 years (or i can pay extra for a lifetime)
So he will install my upgrades, and he will do the police rebuild (High performance clutches and whatnot)

I'd rather take a transmission that can handle the power with a small warranty than with a transmission with a lifetime warranty that'd be busted 19 times a year.

when you change your gears/chain, you have to change the VSS reluctor wheel on the diff. as well. I don't recall having to go into my PCM and edit anything...but its been a long time when I did all that...
I had Big Jeff from Intense build my transmission back in the day, (back in the day before they made their time-bomb differentials). It was one of the last ones he built before he hung it up due to health reasons. I want to say my transmission ran me $3K, worth every penny? Oh hell yes.
If I needed a transmission today...I would go to Dave myself.
