Hello everyone. My name is Chad. I have an 01 GT coupe that is very modified, I have owned it since brand new- purchased 12/10/2000. I have some other cars too as seen in my signature. I was a longtime posted on the "other" forum and it seems dead now so I thought I would check this one out.

Yep that's me! Glad to see some other cars on air out there. I remember when it was just me and Adam Garret that had bagged GPs back in like 02 or 03.

Here's my car. The hood was popped.

Yup there aren't many of us. I really need to get the doors shaved. Ill keep the handles though. How do you get in there? You have poppers?

Also what struts are you running?

Yeah, I forget what brand the kit is but they are electronic poppers.

my front struts are Air Lift Easy Streets which have modified lower mounts. The rear struts are custom made, from Silver Star Customs. They have Firestone 2500 bags and modified lower mounts. The car lays unibody up front. I came across 3 20" versions of my same wheels last summer on Craigslist so eventually I'll have 20s on the rear, may have to do some more mods to get it back down if it lifts it up some

How did you get the front to lay frame. The axle will hit the strut if the lower mounts were positioned any higher on the strut. The rear is easy from what I can tell.

Front lower mounts are raised 2", I guess the Easy Street struts are shorter or something? Nothing hits and I can drive with it just barely lifted with no problem

Yeah they must be. This is what I have on the left. I'm pretty sure those are the older easy streets on the right. Do you have bump stops on yours?

The one on the right is what I have, bear in mind my car has been bagged since 2003 so all my stuff is old haha. I don't believe they have bump stops.

Theres a compromise though, you lose the same amount of lift that you gain in drop. My car at full lift is probably equivalent to it being on Eibachs or something. Which somewhat sucks because I would like to get the SD Air Dam but as it is I can barely get in and out of my driveway.

I'd have the same lift if I were to just remove the bump stops. Besides as it is, it almost lifts to stock ride height.

What size wheels/tires are you running? I'm not sure removing the bump stops is going to be enough. You can check and see if the bag is fully collapsed. I am running 245/40R18s and had to move the lower mount up 2", which is more than you're gonna get out of just removing that bump stop. Plus the longer strut may cause you problems like you said. Anyway good luck with it and if I can help with any questions let me know.

The strut body is longer than the original strut by a few inches, however the lower mounts were raised higher than the original location and the strut compresses more than the original. There's actually a little more drop compared to how the struts were originally set up. This is what they look like welded up.

Keep in mind these aren't my pictures. Also I didn't do any of the welding work.

About this far off the ground.

    My wheels are 18x10 +25 225/45 btw

What did you do about the rear sway bar end links? Mine will not mate up to the brackets anymore, and I'm not sure if they would limit how far the car drops if I did get them hooked back up

You have to do the same thing that the guys that wanna go real low on coil overs do. There is a custom bracket that bolts to the lower mount of the strut with an adjustable end link. I dont think that it would limit the drop.

Get in contact with these guys and ask for the rear coil over sway bar bracket end link kit

    http://www.arrautmotorsports.com/contact-us

You have no idea what your missing out on without a rear sway bar.
