When you bled it did you have the heat on high?
You could still have a bad water pump, I've seen Dex eat the impellers before. So the water pump still spins it just doesnt pump the water. This is probably the least likely thing though.
Because I've been having so much loss I've been using straight water. I'd say it still works because when I bleed the system the water kinda sprays out and when I rev the throttle it's shoots out better. When I typed this up I was broke down. I opened the system and found it empty. Empty!!!! How am I losing water?? Gr!!!!!
Oh and I did have the heat on high but my heater doesn't work
Its either leaking like a sieve, or its blowing out the tailpipe. Any rivers under your car?
You said you've had so much loss, have you checked for a leak yet? Fill the car up with water and run the car. Once it's warm and before it starts overheating, look to see if you can find it leaking. Make sure the A/C isn't on so it doesn't drip water, that way anything on the ground is only from the cooling system.

A cooling system in otherwise perfect condition but with thermostat removed, and filled with straight water... should boil over until doomsday. Study, don't panic. I recommend pressure testing the cooling system with a tool for that. A cranking pressure test might help determine if a head gasket is involved. Monitoring engine vacuum might help determine if an intake manifold leak is present. If you found the system empty... was it cold and was that at the thermostat housing or radiator cap? Did you check the oil dipstick as mentioned earlier?

My job has me running into different states daily so my car is parked at work in Vegas. I should be back home around 5am give or take.
Before I removed the thermostat there was no water in the oil, but there was oil in the water of the radiator. I temp fixed that with blue devil and as of before I removed the thermostat, no oil leak.
I know it's possible to have caused a head gasket failure (blegh) in that short of time. A freak storm hit as I was replacing everything back onto the engine after removing the t stat and I had to shut my hood and dash inside. When I went out to finish the job I hadn't realized I put the upper radiator hose back on securely...without the clamp. So my 3 mile test ride had the upper rad hose pop off and emptywith the car over heating. No biggie, slap the hose on, wait for the car to cool and refill with water and rebleed. I took it for another test ride about 3 miles, no issue. Never went over what, 180? I had my torque app plugged into the car and I was monitoring that temp gauge.
My wife didn't want to take it cause she'd been having trouble so I decided to take it to work same day. It's about 7 ish miles via the 95 freeway. I hopped on, had no trouble till near about the end of the ride on the freeway when suddenly the temp gauge shot up and started to over heat pulling off the freeway. I tried turning on my heater, but it doesn't work. Made it to the 7-11 parking lot shut the car off. Went inside and came out I did notice a relatively small puddle of water under the middle front of the passenger side of the car but I discounted it because it was pretty small. I opened the hood and did a visual inspection but I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.
Continued from earlier. Went to start the car and it wouldn't turn over. I recognized why as an overheat shut down :/. I SWORE there would be water in the system so I peeked into the overflow bottle (full) and decided to crack the bleeder valve, expecting water to come out. Nothing! Nothing but pressureized air! I didn't even see steam escape.
That's a neat way to let the pressure off the system safely though lol.
I waited and vented the system through the bleeder valve and opened the radiator cap. Empty. I poured a whole (used to be coolant) bottle of water into the rad, closed it waited a few and started up and made it to work. It wanted to over heat again, so I'm assuming it lost the what, gallon again?
A couple of things to note, when I went to remove the thermostat housing I think I found my original leak, whoever had previously replaced the tstat tightened the top bolt, but only finger tightened the bottom bolt. When I loosened the top bolt the whole housing was wiggling loosely. The system was empty at the housing and the radiator as well. To get my hands in the space I had removed that metal cooling pipe, the one that bolts into the top of the water pump. when I replaced it, I scraped it with a plactic putty blade to remove the sealant and I replaced the sealant with new. Same with the mating surfaces of the housing. I scraped both clean, added a good dose of sealant and tightened both bolts down, and let them sit over night (12hours) before putting water in the system.
Intake gaskets? But first things first, like Matt suggested, try pressurizing the cooling system to see if there are leaks. If that checks out ok, you most likely have bad LIM gaskets. They are common to go out on the 3.1L and 3.4L. I'm guessing the car has over 100000+ miles? If so, change them gaskets.
+2 for LIM gasket. 3.1 and 3.4 are notorious for this. It's not too bad of a job, but make sure when you remove the pushrods that you mark them as they are different lengths for intake and exhaust. Or do like I did and just loosen the rockers enough to get them out and lean them into the lifter valley and put them back as you remove the old gasket then reverse for installing the new gaskets.
That is if that's what it turns out to be, but dollars to doughnuts it will be since you have oil in the coolant.

Ok now that I'm an hour away from home I'm going to be looking at my car for that leakI'm broke so I gotta rent a pressure tester. On that, what's the stock psi of the system? 13?
Probably 16 psi, look on your cap it should have it on there.
