back in the day i used to check out the ciltons manual at the library......boy am i dating myself lol if you had no clue wtf you were doing, its a huge ass help.
unlike most today, i grew up with out the internet. info was not a keyboard away, thats for damn sure. you really had to work for what ever you learned.
and even still, i was ripping engines out at 15 years old. doing brake jobs and tune ups on friends cars before i had a lic myself, or a car of my own.
the best was the day my dad came home from work and i had the engine ripped out of his 77 gmc truck, he was letting me use it. (it was still his on paper) hes like that had best run again and he walked into the house. nothing more said lol
yeah, it ran again too, but with long tube headers and a new clutch lol my first 2 or 3 cars were all manuals. ended up teaching 1/2 the town how to drive one.
one guy got a nice built camaro with a 4 speed. he wa at the bottom of a hill, right at the 7-11, local hangout, and we hear him reving the hell out of the engine and then the white smoke, a few guys are like hes doing one hell of a burn out lol im like hes killing the clutch!!!! and he ws. he pulls into the 7-11 and i tell him, hey i can help you with that, hes all nah im good. a week later it got a new clutch and he was looking for me for clutch lessons lol
cause no cell phones either....you went out and looked for your friends back then lol
