Honestly, there really isnt a need to "tune" the pcm in the car right now. The stock calibration can more than handle what the car puts down for power, it's actually overally safe but in a good way so the car doesnt knock itself to death and blow up. Sure there are things you can tweak to make better but if staying mostly stock it's prolly not worth the money.
I'd steer more towards another mod instead of doing anything computer related. Something like a 3in downpipe or suspension mods if he is not looking to spend a ton of money. The downpipe (just an option) would reduce knock and free up some horsepower already there and make the butt dyno feel faster.
There are companies that sell the computer as a whole aka a canned tune or there are software programs like DHP or HP Tuners that can tune the factory PCM an unlimited amount of times without ever having to buy another computer.
