Got an oil change recently. I knew it had 1qt of 10w30 mobil super. Anyway i have a bad valve cover gasket and the oil will slowly leak out of it. After my oil change i looked at the receipt and found that they used service pro 5w30 synthetic blend oil. Well its been about 3 weeks and it hasn't leaked a drop. I found this surprising because its thinner oil so i thought it would've leaked faster but it hasn't leaked at all. Is that good or bad? Not sure....

It really doesnt matter what oil you use anymore. It's been 10w30 on the cap from 95-03, then 5w30 because of a different oil pressure spring. 5w30 meets the requirements of 10w30 from way back.

But in reality everyone just runs 5w30 because of the climate they live in, the reason for it not leaking/seeping as much is as good as saying your guess is as good as mine.

Just a heads up, we know what you mean by saying a THINNER oil but try to say SLICKER instead lol cause some people will get on your ass about it.
