He doesn't want it driven, worried about junk being sent into the tran cooler but offer to it get flat tow to me. I don't feel like taking this on will be over my head it just I don't want to have it sit around waiting to do this and that.

Forgot the A/C has a hole in one of the lines but he has a new/used one in the trunk.

if the trans is going out who gives a **** if its driven or not. Nobody rebuilds the trans and just assumes the factory cooler is fine. Shops out here to warranty their work usually install a external cooler. **** that guy then, craigslist search ftw!

    TCM??

Does that guy even know much about these cars?

97-03 cars don't have transmission control modules, thats a V8 only thing with the GXP's.

Any 4T65e HD transmissin will fit, aslong as it's from 97-02. So a regal, grand prix, bonneville etc can all have thats transmission.

There are small changes with cooler line fittings after 2000 but thats really it. Either rebuild the current trans or swap one in.

Cool beans, have you taken on removing the transmission? Also with 206K on the clock should I be worried?

Any know of a 2 door GTP in the TX area? The more I've been looking into fixing this one the more I think I can do better, worst case I pop the engine and trans and swap for lower mileage or rebuild.

May have found a 2000 2 door GTP with 118k on it going for $2300. Right off the owner say the radiator is clogged? Says it needs to be replaced and there's a vacuum leak. Thing is it's a 2 hour drive for me and I made an offer of $1000 IF everything else checks out. Any thoughts?

Dexcool strikes again. If you can get it for $1000 that is good.

Bump your offer up to $1200, but I wouldn't go any higher than $2000 if that is all that is wrong with it. Have him send you some pics of the car and post them here.
