Looking to maybe buy a 97 GTP but only problem is the tranny is gone. I've been on 2 days now so I think I'm going to get it rebuilt by a guy in Waco for $400. Trying to search on the best way to pull this thing out on my own but not sure if it will be worth it.

    Info
    wants $900
    2 owners
    206K miles
driver seat is the only thing that need to be replace but it's it good shape
valve cover gasket needs to be done
    no head unit
    small rust on the pinchweld
starts up fine and engine is snappy
tranny grabs gears but can run to 30 mph
    fluid is burned pretty bad
    no leaks under
body could use a new paint job
rear lenses got water in them
    gas gauge sticks sometimes
    new tires
    drilled/slotted rotors

Just want something to zip around again because my fat girl can't.

Really? He's pretty solid with that number but any info could help, last thing I want to do is buy this vehicle and have her stay in my carport so I want to make sure it's a deal or walk away.

That was the only one I could really find . I'm getting a lot of feed back from the 355 guys that I can only drop it but if this works I need a cherry picker. Bad thing is living on post I can have a car taken apart to long so this should help me.

$900 aint bad for a southern car in my eyes.

Rebuild the trans and fix the other smaller problems you'd have a good running car for under $2,000.

    This..

Especially with just - pinch of rust. Most of those things can be easily fixed or repaired for cheap. I say go for it!

I seen he chimes in a lot and doesn't come off as a D-bag. I'm more use to taking apart my truck and haven't had a car to mod in years so I'm worried that some small stuff will hang me up.

Yup you'll catch him on here often during the week. Not to worry anything you might get stuck on post and usually you'll get help before to long. These cars are cakewalks to work on compared to most everything else.

I only say that because I bought mine for $1400 with a blown motor( ran, just knocked like hell), had 40k on a new trans, well taken care of, needed nothing else, and the guy had receipts from 2001 until 2011 when i got it.

Trans no biggie, but your paint, the passenger door is hitting the fender needs new pins, no head unit, LIM been changed to aluminum? who else knows whats wrong with it once you get it crusing at 70mph. But of course that is a gamble with used cars. Its your 900!

Wow you got a pretty damn good eye . I didn't even say anything about the door and you got it right on with one photo!!! What's the LIM? Like I said I'm a fan of these cars but never had one so there is a boat load of stuff I still haven't look into.

The owner went up to Dallas and the tranny he found was a 4t65e HD but the tranny wouldn't work with his TCM. Just trying to make sure I get the right one.

Lower intake manifold (lim) gasket. Usually how the motors blow because coolant gets in the oil. 97 is a problem child.

Offer $700 and see what happens, point out every dam defect, jack the car up and try to find something crappy, maybe a broken sway bar will help! 900 aint horrible, but a penny saved is a penny saved.
