My grand prix is an 06 3800 series II, I was changing my heater hose connectors, (those elbows that connect the water pump to the engine intake) and the plastic elbows were so brittle that when I pulled out the elbows they broke and left a piece of them stuck inside the engine intake. The problem is that I cant put everything back together until i get those broken off pieces out of the engine intake to make room for the new elbows. Does anyone know what i can do (short of taking out the whole engine intake manifold) to get those broken off pieces out? also will i need gaskets for the engine intake or just water pump? PLEASE HELP!

Use a angle pick or something that can reach behind them and pull them out.

Don't panic as this always happens, you have need to get behind them and get them out.

Yeah dont panic , those elbows are a common to brittle and break use some needle nose pliers to get the plastic out. Make sure to replace them with some aluminum ones from the parts store they should be in Dorman section.

Thank you! the needle nose did the trick, however I've run into another problem. I put everything back together, water pump, alternator, serpentine belt, I reconnected the battery and tried to start the car, but the battery was completely dead. I jump started the car and the alternator was charging everything just fine. I got home and turned off the car and tried to start it again but the battery was dead immediately. I've since put a charger on it hoping that it fixes the issue, have you ever heard of a battery being killed by this repair job? I had the battery unplugged for about two days while doing the repair, could that have caused this?

Well... not quite that, but my battery just gave up on life after changing my fuel pump.. it was quite random. My only guess is that it was like using a defib on someone who's already alive. okay, okay, okay, OVERLOAD, dead. lol
