Here is another thread to take a look at from a member here that did the repair the right way and also took it a little bit further as to cover the whole underside to protect it from rusting.

Not to start a battle on how everyone repairs their rockers...

There is no inner rocker or outer, not even the front fender attached at the bottom because where the bolt attaches, the metal is gone.

Basically, you have the floorpan (well, most of it anyways), a bit of rusty metal, and the aero package, which is only held in place by two bolts, the ones at the top going into the wheel wells.

Thanks to everyone for the responses.

What in the world are you talking about OP? did you look at the link I posted in post #7? There IS an inner and outer rocker piece. Then there is the black rail/ladder looking piece that bolts on to the outside that holds the rocker molding on. Pictures of your car would greatly help I believe yours is a 4 door right? The link in post #7 will help you a lot that car had some major cancer surgery and replaced with fresh metal if yours needs that extensive amount of work.

Hell have you even looked on Ebay? those rockers are sold on Ebay the outters are easy to find the inside is a little harder and even the GM parts catalog makes these available as crash parts if you want to get the OEM rockers but your going to pay big bucks for them. Id cut the whole bottom sections out of a junk yard car long before I got OEM parts well that is IF you can find a yard car with metal that's not full of rust!!

The rockers are 2 pieces. They are riveted together at a seam just out of sight under the rocker panel.

That and the supports are where the rust likes to start.

What because a ground pounder or some infantry man has more value outside in the real world? Trust me guy I started out working on Bradley's with the Minnesota National Guard then I got smart and transferred states after I was in Iraq for 22 months. Went to Afghanistan and worked on Radars there and I am doing the same thing here in Washington DC. Oh not to mention 2 years left on a EE Degree and 4 credits short of a Diesel Mechanics degree also. Hmm and being a grunt would make more sense outside the military huh? How about the numerous amount of DOD contractors that hire guess what? Yep Engineers especially ones with overseas experience and over 10 years in on my third rotation. Just food for thought Raython starts out Electrical Engineers around 6 figures per year and I've been working with them since 2008, both stateside and overseas.

Now go away your making me sound like a staff sergeant and its still the weekend I don't like to do that sh1t especially when I'm not at work!

For my 4 door GTP, the driver's side would benefit from most any of the solutions proposed. It's not too bad, nothing that can't be sanded sealed and the aero package re-installed.

But for the passenger side, what has to be cut out is the inner, outer rockers, and about 1.5 inches of the floor pan. Pretty sure the only cost effective way to fix it is as someone suggested, have it cut out of a donor car and welded in.

Thanks again for all the suggestions and all the other fun stuff in the thread.

    Thompsju, stop caring so much.

For cereal, flagging posts you don't like is kinda annoying.
