You like that? The engine was 100x worse when I got it. Most of it is cleaned up now (besides the backside). Once I get the wires on, it's gonna get a brake cleaner bomb!
When I got the car.
Where I'm at as of today.![]()
That's much cleaner.
The red was a bit overwhelming for the morning though. Keep the hood down on the way to work![]()
There's no question about it... That spark plug is siezed in there. Even when I can get that socket on there, I turn until it just spins off the plug.
I soaked it in PB BLASTER all night and morning.
Murphy's Law ftl.
I'm assuming your turning it the correct way given that you go the other two out? I'd try cleaning it real good with brake clean and digging all that crud out around the plug. Make sure to get a clean good condition 6 sided socket on it. The PB blaster and oil will cause the socket to slip off easier. a breaker bar should help too.
Have you tried it with the engine warmed up a bit?
Right. Cause I'm gonna run my engine with a broken spark plug in it.
If I get lucky, maybe it'll fall INTO the compression chamber. Lol.
No. And that's not an option.
Could always get a new/ used set of heads.
Did you clean it up and dig that crud out and use a clean socket with a breaker bar? A pipe on the end of your ratchet will work too.
Tms, I did everything you said. Used a whole can of brake cleaner, switched to my Kobalt 6-point sockets, and put the socket onto the plug, then attached the breaker.
Plus I removed the alternator mounting bolt, had the engine tipped forward, and I was standing on top of my engine, while picturing the socket slipping and me faceplanting into the stb bar and knocking out my teeth.
No hard hits on it, just slow brute force, I did 3 rotations with the breaker.
But as soon as it "broke", it came off super easy.
Good deal! Make sure to avoid over tightening the new ones. Glad you kept all your teeth too!
Don't fault me for it..but I would if i needed heat. It'll run like crap, but it'll run and it'll work. I've had to run and engine while pulling an O2 sensor to keep it heated in the past. In the end, your perserverence paid off.
Agreed - I'd probably pull the injector clip on that cylinder too though. Not much chance of washing down the cylinder at idle, but I guess I'd still be a little afraid of wearing the rings a little faster with un-burnt gas sitting in it.
Wouldn't hurt a thing for that short amount of time running. And the plug isn't going to fall into the engine, if anything it'll get blown out.
Glad you got it out though.
