Hey folks, what kind of instrument do I need to check for "Service Engine Soon" codes and check KR readings? Any tips on hook up and procedure? Been searching through threads but decided it would be more efficient to just ask. Thanks!

I have a scanguage II. It's 4 guages at once and you can read/erase fault codes.
I bought a bacic Acron scan tool off of Amazon about 5 years ago. Works good to scan and erase codes. I simply do a google search if the code is a code I have not learned about here. There is a search button at the top of this page to enter any codes or topics and it works GREAT!
Thanks Madness, I'll check that one out too. Seems I should have a code reader/scanner. I've owned almost twenty cars in my lifetime and only took one to the shop one time, and that was to have an engine replaced. Would have done that too but I didn't have a garage or a picker at the time, and was tired of swapping engines under a tree with a branch strong enough to hold a hoist!Think the last time I pulled codes on a car/truck it was the old style of turning the key on and off in some specific order, then counting the flashes of the engine light and looking up the codes!
The research I did says the Scanguage II can read KR, but needs to be programed in, as well as other sensors. Most info I found said it was a bit of a pain to "program" it to read certain things. Haven't done enough research to be sure. The aeroforce seems to be more user friendly and provides everything you would want. Again, I haven't done enough research to make a clear decision.
From my experience the scangauge II doesn't scan KR on my 07 gp. I've tried programming it with the codes and contacted the company with no luck but I think it does work with 97-03.
