You more than likely have a large vac leak.

With the car on and in park, spray some starter fluid around where the lim goes to the block and where the uim goes to the lim. Then try all the vaccum lines. If the idle changes you have a vac leak.

Double check your fluids again too so you can be sure they aren't mixing again.

I wouldn't think you would crack it unless you really cranked on it. Did you torque it? And did you use locktite on the bolts?

Do what I said to look for vac leaks. If you find one, look at where it came from to find out if the manifold is cracked.

Well i have cracked the upper intake manifold.I guess my torque wrench is trash. Now im going to tear it back down to see if the lower is cracked. Is there any good torque wrenches in the 100.00 range out there??

you likely read the torque specs wrong. torqued in ft. lbs. when it called for inch. lbs.

Well found out tonight that I cracked the lower intake too. Good thing I got the lower and upper when I was at the used parts place. Is the torque specs in the chiltons manual what yall go by?? As far as the lower intake bolts is loktite all I need to use on them or do I need some sealent also?? thanks a lot everyone.

I never torque those bolts down, the bolts can snap in some cases.

Just get them all tight and go around and snug each one up just a little. I don't see a need to use a any sealant either. Some say otherwise.

I use sealant since some of the bolts go into coolant passages
