Ok so we have a 2007 Grand Prix and when my husband went out to start the car for work he put the key in turned it and the alarm went off, the trunk popped open but the car won't start. Is this an alarm issue or computer problem? What should I be looking for?

You should be looking to take it to a professional.
Could be ignition switch, BCM, or wiring.

Is there an after market alarm or anything else on the vehicle.
It's a CUMMINS Dodge not a Dodge Cummins

No after market stuff. All factory installed. I guess I will have to have it towed in but I really was hoping someone had an idea of what this might be so I don't look like an idiot or get hosed! I am pretty good at doing my own car repairs and if I take it in I always know what I want fixed and don't seem like a rookie. But oh we'll thanks anyway!

Does it crank and then not start or does it not crank at all?

You repair the cars? Not your husband? Unfortunately electrical problems can be hellish to diagnose, nevermind on the internet...

I have an 07 gp and my battery was close to dead and when I tried to start it the alarm didn't go off but the horn would honk, the trunk would pop and the windshield wipers would come on. So you could try to jump it and see what happens. Wouldn't hurt to try

Thanks everyone! I got it fixed! I took the battery out and put it on the charger. While it charged I cleaned the cables. Replaced battery and started right up! I called my sisters! We grew up on a farm and had to fix tractors, cars, and everything in between. And just for the record I love working on cars! And my kids know everything I do! Don't have to be a man to be a motor head!

Glad to hear you figured it out. The newer grand prix's do weird things over the smallest issues
