For those that know me, you'll have seen all this before.
For those that don't know me, here we go!
I'm Dane, I have a 2000 Firebird that I've owned since I bought it in '02 with 60K miles. Rebuilt it at 135K, now at 151K and still doing really well. Almost all the work I did was in my own garage except for the transmission rebuild and of course the proper machining work that was needed. All assembly for the engine and suspension was done at home.
It has been a learning experience on many fronts and I never really set out to make it something geared towards taking down V8's and hopped up turbo hondas etc. etc. I built it to learn the ropes on something that is pretty forgiving and almost bullet proof. It is a great and enjoyable daily driver that cranks on the first start even in cold weather, and has good street manners considering the big stall.
I dyno'd 196hp @ 5600 / 196tq@ 4600 with the 3800 stall unlocked. <That's important before peopl start chiming in about low #'s since it dynod 169/184 w/ just the lid and full exhaust before the rebuild.
