Welcome.
As far as your question, I’m really not sure what “metal cover” you’re talking about. The spark plugs have heat shields around them, and they do seem to be partially made of aluminum to me. If it the heat shields you’re talking about they come right off after the spark plug boot is removed. If not, you’ll have to describe this mystery cover better.
i guess we are talking about the same thing tho. its an alum. tub around it with the rubber boot on the top. yes that it. i tried to pull it off. i dont want to slap it. well im scared i am gonna snap it. maybe a lil more force would help. but do i turn it a curtain way for it to come off. thnk for the response!!
If they are your original wires, they are probably fused to the spark plugs. They may come off, they may pull apart. It’s just a matter of time and heat. If I were you I’d just drop the dime now and get a new set of wires. Honestly, get them before you dig into this. One trick you can try is twisting the spark plug boot (not the wire) before pulling them. Once the boot is lose it should come right off. And before you ask, no, it really doesn’t matter what brand of wires you buy. Just do yourself a big favor and get a set made (cut to length and crimped) for your car.
Thank alot. i been doing alot of the engine work myself cause you cant trust anybody working on your car these days. i think im gonna just change the wires myself. you been a big help. Thnx![]()
