    Usually you don't need to replace the axles unless the CV boots are broken. Once you get the axle nut off (36 mm) you need to take the brake caliper bracket off (2) 15 mm bolts, then there are 3 bolts (13 mm) that hold the hub in the steering knuckle. Just be careful not to damage your ABS connector or wire putting the new one in.

    I only suggested it because its easy to do if its that far apart already. My boots were not torn or leaking grease, but did click occasionally. did bearings and axles at same time. like I said depends on mileage
    2000 GT ,E85 powered, and still slow

    That's true.. I guess they can get worn with age.. Did yours shift hard into drive or reverse?

    reverse did a little bit not too much. While driving in traffic letting off gas then on again would produce a clunk noise which dissapeared with the new axles installed
    2000 GT ,E85 powered, and still slow

    Thanks for the info. Her car only has 48,000 miles on it. None of this should have happened if she just would have drove it semi-normal.
