Glad to be a new member here. Maybe someday I can help someone. Also hoping someone can help me with my problem. The cable on mu hood latch broke and I can not open the hood. Is there an easy way to get the hood open. I have a 94 grand prix SE. Thanks.

    welcome to the forums!!

the 94's are basicly the same mechanism as the 97-03's.

if you are able to get to the bottom of the latch itself....

there is a bar that is spring loaded to hold it to the left. just try to reach in there and move it to the right side...this will pop your hood. your fingers will only be able to reach it from the bottom of the latch. It has been a long time since I had my 95. I believe if I took off my front vents I didnt have anything there other than impact foam.....so going in from the bottom may have to be an option. the 97's all you have to do is take a front grille out and the latch is right there.

    I hope this helps.

No the 94's are not the same there hood latch is monuted on the floor.. And the grills are down lower on the 94's then the gen 2's if you can still see the black cable and the latch is trashed this is a temp fix to at least get the hood open. Take the latch out and strip the cable cover off and use a pair of pliers to grab the actual cable and it will let you pull the hood open... And any engine tech questions for the 3.1 post them up or pm me about them I've had 4 3.1's three of the mutli port engine version and one of the sequiental sp? injection version. Along with 2 vin x 3.4 dohc engines

Grabing cable with pliers and pulling will not work. I pulled so hard i broke the latch. I just want to get the hood open. I don't know where the holding latch is on the front of the car. Can get my fingers to the regular latch but sonthing is still holding the hood down. Thanks
